  • Patent number: 7607263
Abstract: An operator for use in connection with a door system including an axle having an operator framework supporting an operator motor, the operator framework defining a clearance adapted to insertably receive the axle therein, a gear assembly defining a bore in which the axle is received and including a removable gear segment adapted to selectively medially open the bore to receive the axle, wherein the motor is interconnected with the gear assembly to cause rotation thereof.

  • Publication number: 20030116253
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a flexible curtain is disclosed and claimed. The flexible curtain is used in a windlocking apparatus to prevent the unwanted intrusion of wind, water and debris into a building opening. Strips are attached to the edges of the curtain. The strips may be attached to the curtain by first heating them followed by compressing them to form a welded or bonded construction. The heating may be accomplished by direct heat transfer, electromagnetic excitation, or ultrasonic excitation. Compressing the materials together is accomplished with rollers having cylindrical laminating surfaces to join the excited materials and form a welded or bonded construction. Alternatively, the materials may be glued or stitched together. Preferably the curtain and strips are thermoplastic materials. Semi-crystalline polymer strips may be joined to a thermoplastic curtain to add rigidity.

  • Patent number: 6326751
Abstract: An internal entrapment system for a garage door operator (30), comprising a motor (48) for transferring a garage door (12) between first and second positions; a pulse counter (62) for detecting a speed of the garage door (12) during transfer between first and second positions; a potentiometer (56) for determining a plurality of positional locations of the garage door (12) during transfer between first and second positions separate from said pulse counter (62); and a control circuit (50) for calculating a motor torque value from the speed for each of said plurality of positional locations to compare with a plurality of door profile data points, wherein said control circuit (50) takes corrective action if the difference between the motor torque value for each of said plurality of positional locations and said plurality of door profile data points exceeds a predetermined threshold, and wherein said control circuit (50) updates said plurality of door profile data points to the motor torque values for each respect

  • Patent number: 5177868
Abstract: A door assembly and method for making a door assembly that has a front steel skin with a predetermined embossed pattern, a back steel skin that has a substantially textured flush surface and a polystyrene core one side of which has an embossed design substantially identical to the embossed design of the front steel skin and a back surface that is substantially flush. The front and back steel skins have a pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive applied thereto and the center polystyrene core is attached between the front and back steel skins and passed through a series of pinch rollers to apply predetermined pressure to the front and back skins to secure the front and back skins to the polystyrene core. The front and back skins are preheated to a predetermined temperature sufficient to maintain the pressure sensitive hot melt glue in a soft and tacky state.
