  • Patent number: 5530040
Abstract: A traction composition is comprised of a lignin-based phenolic compound, a silicone resin, a rosin and a suitable carrier. The traction composition may be applied to the surfaces of wet or dry vehicle tires to impart anti-slip properties thereto. In accordance with the present invention, the anti-slip properties have increased durability so that the tires have good traction over a longer distance of travel.

  • Patent number: 5285916
Abstract: A pressure vessel, comprising an aerosol can for containing gas under pressure, especially flammable gases such as butane, isobutane and propane. The vessel includes two features, an open celled foam, preferably reticulated and a pressure relief system and an opening in the container for discharge of gas or contents. The foam and the pressure relief system in combination substantially reduce the likelihood of flareout in use; and in storage, the buildup of heat in the event of fire, such that the vessels explode and become dangerous projectiles.

  • Patent number: 4545759
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved attachment for a propane/butane fuel container of the aerosol type to provide torches, burners, heaters, lanterns, and the like. In one embodiment the attachment itself includes a torch and control valve, while in other embodiments it is an adaptor to connect conventional or separate devices to the container. The attachment has a cylindrical boss with a central well which screws onto the threaded stem portion of the fuel container to an assembled position in which an actuator pin opens a self-sealing outlet valve in the container. The attachment has a first O-ring seal seated inside the well and a second O-ring seal seated around the inlet boss just below an outwardly extending shoulder. As the assembly is tightened into position on the fuel container, these two O-ring seals are simultaneously compressed, the first against the upper surface of the stem portion and the second against the annular rim of the container.
