  • Patent number: 6298530
Abstract: The present invention relates to coiled electrode assemblies having conductive tabs, methods of attaching the conductive tabs to the coiled electrode, and electrochemical cells employing such assemblies. An electrode plate which is coated with active material has a designated area for tab attachment. The conductive tab area's active material is pierced with opposing, offset piercing plates which have raised surface probes which penetrate the conductive tab area's coating and substrate. This tab area is cleared of active material and reinforced with a reinforcing material and a conductive tab is welded to the thus treated area resulting in an electrode plate having a strong integrated tab assembly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 8, 2000
Date of Patent: October 9, 2001
    Assignee: Duracell Inc.
Inventors: Donald Barber, Robert Smith, Robert Pavlinsky, Bruce Ingram

  • Patent number: 6159113
Abstract: Light indication apparatus for baseball includes a first light source for emitting first coherent and intense light rays of a first color in a first direction and a second light source for emitting second coherent and intense light rays of a second color in a second direction. The first and second light rays intersect entirely within a preselected volume. A baseball can be identified by an observer of said first and second light rays as being substantially within said volume when said first and second light rays shine on said object simultaneously.
