Patent number: 7642703Abstract: A lamp base (10), for example, for a tungsten-halogen lamp, comprises three electrically conductive parts or elements and a glass insulator. Specifically, the lamp base (10) comprises a first metallic outer part (12), a glass inner part (14), an electrically conducting eyelet (18), and an upper electrically conductive part (20), all symmetrically arrayed about a longitudinal axis (16). The glass insulator (14) bonds all of the electrically conductive parts, (12, 18) and (20). The metallic outer part (12) is preferably threaded for insertion into a socket and has a major, internal diameter D1. The glass inner part (14) has a primary, external diameter that is equal to the major internal diameter D1; i.e., the external diameter of the glass inner part (14) is contiguous with the internal diameter of the metallic outer part (12). Further, the internal glass part (14) has an opening (14a) therein and the opening (14a) has a secondary diameter D2In an aspect of the invention, D2/D1 is greater than 0.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2006Date of Patent: January 5, 2010Assignee: OSRAM Sylvania Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey L. Middleton, Jay Yeaple, Neil Bupp, Donald Burger, Tad Smith, Timothy McGill

Patent number: 6386888Abstract: A modular connector is provided that includes a plurality of modular components that are connectable together. Such components or modules include a conductive bracket that may be grounded, a cover attachable to the bracket, a conductive insert that is extendable through the bracket and into the cover, an insulator that is extendable into the insert, and a contact that is insertable into the insulator to insulate the contact from the insert. The insert engages the bracket and is therefore grounded when the bracket is grounded.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Osram Sylvania Inc.Inventors: Albert Skopic, Donald Burger

Patent number: 4645281Abstract: A freely rotating connector security shield for use with BNC or other connectors to prevent unauthorized access to the connector. The connectors appropriate for use with the security shield are secured by rotation about the connector axis to mate with the corresponding connector. According to the present invention, such axial connector rotation is prevented by surrounding the connector with a normally freely rotating cylindrical shield. Removal or insertion of the shielded connector from the mating connector requires the use of a corresponding installation tool. The connector is engaged through apertures in the shield which permit radial compressive forces by the installation tool to be applied across the connector. The connector thus held captive can now be connected to and removed from the corresponding mating connector.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: LRC Electronics, Inc.Inventor: Donald A. Patent number: 3974945Abstract: An aerosol dispensing system having an outer container, compressible inner container means positioned within the outer container, and means to compress the inner container means which are positioned between the inner container means and the outer container. A spray head and valve assembly are connected to the inner container means such that movement of the valve assembly to an opened position permits material within the inner container means to be expelled through the spray head in the form of a finely divided aerosol spray. The material within the inner container means includes a major amount of a finely divided powder product in admixture with a neutral propellant and a minor amount of an amorphous silica. The neutral propellant is capable of being adsorbed by the amorphous silica and the neutral propellant is present in amounts sufficient to form a substantially homogeneous wet-paste slurry or a substantially homogeneous liquid with the finely divided powder product and the amorphous silica.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1976Date of Patent: August 17, 1976Assignees: Norman D.
