    Abstract: Where on the valve seating surfaces due to the high pressure pumping of abrasive slurry through an in-line valve is greatly reduced by providing first and second valve seating surfaces which are engaged, respectively by first metal and first elastomeric closure surfaces and second metal and elastomeric closure surfaces located on an annular valve closure means. Pumping efficiency is maintained by providing for high velocity sweep in an annular space between the annular valve closure means and the cylinder in which it rides.

    Abstract: A high pressure foam slurry generator, including a source of slurry, a source of gas, and a means for combining the slurry and the gas, which is usually nitrogen. A housing receiving the slurry and the gas has a connector with multiple channels. One channel for the nitrogen gas acts as an inlet and has a bushing with a series of multiple holes through which the nitrogen gas is broken into a plurality of high velocity streams. The slurry with a foamer agent added combines at right angles with the nitrogen gas and is formed before being pumped through a tubing string into a gas or oil well. Also included herein is a process for making foamed slurry by pumping a slurry capable of being foamed to a housing, pumping nitrogen to the same housing, separating the nitrogen into a plurality of high velocity streams, and combining the streams and the slurry in a foaming action. Either the slurry or the nitrogen may have two separate streams entering the housing as right angles to each other.

    Abstract: An adjustable cement head manifold connector including a first union having a passageway therethrough operably connected for a fluidtight connection with a cement head, a second union having a passageway therethrough having an end for operably connecting it in a fluidtight manner to a cement head, components for slidably connecting the first union and the second union in a fluidtight manner. The components for slidably connecting including a mandrel having one end fixed to one of the unions and slidably engaged with the other. The fixed end of the mandrel is preferably held with a combination of a sleeve surrounding the mandrel acting in conjunction with a nut which operatively engages and presses the mandrel against the seat at the opening of the union. The end of the mandrel which is slidably engaged utilizes a sleeve nut and O-ring arrnagement for fluidtight engagement against the mandrel.

    Abstract: A frangible pressure relief disc assembly is disclosed which is adapted to fit into a positive displacement pump on the suction side of each cylinder. The disc assembly provides a pressure relief when the fluid passing through the pump encounters a closed valve or other obstruction in the line. The disc assembly comprises: (a) a support member having a first side and a second side which is penetrated by a passage (e.g., a bore ) providing fluid communication from the first side to the second side, and (b) a pressure frangible disc fixedly attached to the support member and positioned to form a fluid-tight seal covering the passage.

    Abstract: A union for joining pipes, tubing, or other fluid conduits in a fluidtight manner includes male and female parts having respective inner fluid passages. The male part has a contoured lead end that slidably engages the female lead end which has a complementary contour with respect to the male lead end. The male lead end has a circumferential recess which retains a resilient sealing member which is radially compressed between the mated, contoured lead ends when the male and female parts are joined together. Clamping means is provided to hold the male and female parts together, but the fluidtight seal is independent of the clamping means. The mated contoured lead ends substantially eliminate transverse movement at the sealing interface and permit a camming action when the male and female parts are joined so as to self-align the respective inner passages.

In practice, the positioner tool is secured to the reducer coupling and the coupling is moved into its hook-up position above the production casing, by attaching a rig to the positioner tool. The coupling can then be threaded into the casing by turning the positioner tool with a wrench, or similar tool.

The practice of this invention involves shaping the adaptor ring faces to conform precisely to the shape of the packing ring faces against which they are seated.

    Abstract: A pressure transducer body is described which has a bore running its length and contains (a) a means for receiving a pressure transducer, (b) a fluid reservoir, (c) a stationary elastic plug member having embedded therein a T-shaped rigid pin member, and (d) a chamber for receiving a fluid under pressure. The elements of the transducer body are combined in such a way that pressures of fluids flowing into chamber (d) are accurately measured using conventional pressure transducers even at very high pressures (e.g. 20,000 psi). More importantly, perhaps, the configuration of the transducer body permits accurate pressure measurements on pressurized fluids which are corrosive and/or abrasive. This makes the pressure transducer bodies particularly useful in the oilfield service industries for measuring the pressure of acidizing or hydraulic fracturing fluids used in stimulation.
