  • Patent number: 4971720
Abstract: Foam is formed from a solution of demineralized make-down water and foaming agent, and the foam contacted with solid materials to suppress process dust emissions. The foaming agent may be a low salt tolerant surfactant which loses its surface active properties in typical aqueous process streams, or end uses, thereby minimizing subsequent foam related problems. The low salt tolerant surfactant may be part of a combination of components for forming foam which is low salt tolerant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 22, 1988
Date of Patent: November 20, 1990
    Assignee: Betz Laboratories
    Inventor: Donald C. Roe
  • Patent number: 4897218
Abstract: A method of suppressing dust generation emanating from cement clinker by applying a foamed water/surfactant solution thereto. The solution comprises a low salt tolerant anionic surfactant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 1987
Date of Patent: January 30, 1990
    Assignee: Betz Laboratories, Inc.
    Inventor: Donald C. Roe
  • Patent number: 4780143
Abstract: A method of suppressing dust generation emanating from cement clinker dust by applying a foamed dust control treatment thereto. The foam is provided with an effective defoaming agent which, upon slurrying of the clinker and other ingredients (e.g., sand, gypsum, aggregate) to form the desired mortar, inhibits foam formation in the mortar, thus not significantly increasing air entrapped in the slurried mortar.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 1987
Date of Patent: October 25, 1988
    Assignee: Betz Laboratories, Inc.
    Inventor: Donald C. Roe
  • Patent number: 4780233
Abstract: Minor amounts of water insoluble elastomeric polymers are combined with oil. The combination is sprayed or applied in a foam carrier to dust particles to inhibit dissemination thereof which would otherwise occur by windage or transit motion and the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 4, 1987
Date of Patent: October 25, 1988
    Assignee: Betz Laboratories, Inc.
    Inventor: Donald C. Roe
