  • Patent number: 5054133
Abstract: A low consumption toilet fixture (10) has a bowl (20), a tank (16) having a central exit (43), a waterway passage extending from the tank to the bowl (20) and an angled trap (22) that has a bottom well (24). The downstream end (34) of the trap (22), inlet (42) of the waterway, and well (24) all bisect a central vertical reference plane which divides the toilet into two halves. The angled trap has an intermediate upper section (30) which is laterally offset with respect to the inlet (42) of the waterway (21) and has a height greater than a lower wall (50) of the horizontal leg (44) of the waterway that extends from the central inlet (42). The waterway (22) has an exit opening into the well (24). The exit has an upper groove (49) and notch (51) directing water into the bottom of bowl (20). The well (24) is canted laterally and forwardly downwardly with respect to the central vertical reference plane.

  • Patent number: 4996726
Abstract: A fill valve (36) has a main valve (34) with a control chamber (44) for controlling the on and off actuation of the main valve. A tube (58) is in fluid communication with chamber (44) and extends into the water at the fill level (46) in tank (10). The flush valve (64) is connected to tube (58) such that upon actuation it raises tube (58) and lowers the pressure in chamber (44) to turn on the main valve (34) independent of whether the water level in tank (10) drops below its fill level (46) to direct water from the main valve to a rim wash conduit (28).

  • Patent number: 4973402
Abstract: A fluid flow fill valve (10) has an elongated strainer member (40) with a plurality of axially extending flanges (44) each having alternating notches (48) and comb-like elements (46) which abut a complementarily tapered supply conduit wall (25) to provide an elongated strainer member along the conduit. The upstream end of the strainer member (40) has a nub (64) which is placed within an aperture (74) of flexible fluid flow restrictor member (66) to provide for a restrictive annular inlet to the strainer member (40). Strainer member (40) can be easily flushed by depressing and axially moving the strainer member downwardly such that a clearance (84) is formed between the comb-like element (46) and the tapered wall (25) of conduit (24).

  • Patent number: 4874009
Abstract: A valve housing assembly includes a valve body member that has an exterior threaded section which can engage an interior threaded section of a cap member. The cap member and valve body member have opposing shoulders. An abutment ring made from a semi-rigid material of talc filled propylene is interposed between the two opposing shoulders and provides for seal between the two opposing shoulders to the threaded section. Furthermore, the semi-rigid abutment ring will undergo slight compression when the cap member is fully tightened onto the body member and will creep back over a period of time to alleviate vertical forces which can cause seizing of the threaded sections of the cap member and body member which would otherwise prevent easy removal of the cap member from the body member. Furthermore, the sealing of the ring between the two shoulders reduces the chance of corrosion by eliminating water leaking into the threaded section from the interior of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4439874
Abstract: A quiet water closet rim and a method for venting air from a rim cavity of a water closet. The rim has a horizontally oriented annular cavity and is selectively supplied with pressurized water by a flush mechanism. A series of perforations in the rim permits the pressurized water within the rim cavity to exit the rim in the form of a spray. The rim is also provided with a vent passageway having an inlet open into an upper portion of the cavity and an outlet open into the atmosphere. As pressurized water fills the cavity, a portion of the air within the upper portion of the cavity is vented through the vent passageway.

  • Patent number: 4314581
Abstract: A valve assembly embodied in cartridge form for ease of manufacture, repair, and replacement and for retrofitting existing valve housings. The cartridge operates with shear on/off operation and includes a valve element having elastomeric properties and a configuration arranged to develop positive shut-off and seal action to prevent leakage in both the flow circuit and along an operating stem.
