Patent number: 11963869Abstract: A valved conduit including a bioprosthetic valve, such as a heart valve, and a tubular conduit sealed with a bioresorbable material. The bioprosthetic heart valve includes prosthetic tissue that has been treated such that the tissue may be stored dry for extended periods without degradation of functionality of the valve. The bioprosthetic heart valve may have separate bovine pericardial leaflets or a whole porcine valve. The sealed conduit includes a tubular matrix impregnated with a bioresorbable medium such as gelatin or collagen. The valved conduit is stored dry in packaging in which a desiccant pouch is supplied having a capacity for absorbing moisture within the packaging limited to avoid drying the bioprosthetic tissue out beyond a point where its ability to function in the bioprosthetic heart valve is compromised. The heart valve may be sewn within the sealed conduit or coupled thereto with a snap-fit connection.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2021Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: EDWARDS LIFESCIENCES CORPORATIONInventors: Louis A. Publication number: 20210077351Abstract: A storage bag (100) for storing, transporting, freezing, and thawing biopharmaceuticals includes a collapsible pouch (102) including an internal volume and an aperture; a non-collapsible port assembly (114) with a body, a snout (118) extending from the body into the pouch through the aperture, and at least one conduit (120A-C); and a reinforcing laminate (108) surrounding the port assembly and the end of the collapsible pouch including the aperture. At least one peripheral cavity (124A, 124B) is adjacent to a portion of the port assembly and extends from the aperture to at least one conduit so the conduit is in fluid communication with the internal volume through the peripheral cavity. The size of the peripheral cavity can be adjusted to control the volume of fluid trapped between the collapsible pouch and the non-collapsible port assembly, and as such this area advantageously experiences limited expansion during freezing.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2018Publication date: March 18, 2021Inventors: Joseph Alford, Donald Campbell, Shannon Deibel, Ashwath Nityanandan

Patent number: 10273371Abstract: A method of forming a passivated pigment slurry includes combining a resin and a pigment to form a pigment-resin slurry, wherein the pigment includes a plurality of flakes each having a surface. After combining, the method includes firstly reacting an orthosilicate and the pigment in the presence of the resin to form a coated pigment-resin slurry. The coated pigment-resin slurry includes the resin and a coated pigment including the plurality of flakes each encapsulated by a first layer formed from the orthosilicate on the surface. The method further includes, concurrent to or after firstly reacting, secondly reacting the coated pigment-resin slurry and an organosilane compound having a hydrolysable group and an organic group to coat the first layer and form the passivated pigment slurry. The passivated pigment slurry includes the resin and a passivated pigment including the plurality of flakes each coated with a second layer disposed on the first.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2016Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: BASF Coatings GmbHInventors: Donald Campbell, Prasad T Ramanna, Rajesh Rathod, Paragkumar Thanki

Patent number: 9748021Abstract: A plurality of telecommunications connections are installed in a distribution network by connecting a series of distribution points using a multicore cable comprising a plurality of cores having a common enclosure, some of the cores carrying fiber tubes into which optical fiber may later be introduced, and other cores carrying an electrical power supply. One or more cores may be diverted from a longer cable run to serve a local distribution point by rupturing a web connecting the core to the rest of the cable, thus allowing the remaining cores to be uninterrupted at the point of divergence. An alternative embodiment intended for underground use provides for apertures to be opened in a protective sheath to expose the individual cores required to be diverted to a local distribution point.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2015Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANYInventors: John Andrew Warren, Malcolm Donald Campbell, Christopher Munnings, Christopher Fisk, Ian Hunter

Patent number: 9071626Abstract: A security installation positions a peering ability with a peer installation by establishing a peering agreement to define the conditions constituting a situation for which peering applies, and identifies the resources and assets which will be shared, as well as the duration of the peering, typically until the resolution of the exigent situation or circumstances that prompted the peering. Peering selectively couples security installations for monitoring a particular upon determining that a situation responsive to mediation has occurred within an area monitored by the security installation for monitoring an area. The security installation initiates a peering invitation to a peer installation, in which the peer installation is configured to share resources with the security installation for mitigating the cause of the situation.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2012Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: VIDSYS, INC.Inventors: Stephen Jeffrey Morris, Steven Arnold Bolton, Donald Campbell
