  • Publication number: 20200289877
Abstract: An exercise machine suitable for exercising a person's muscles contains a frame (100), a seat (102) situated over the frame, a seatback (104 or 104U), a connection mechanism (106 or 106U) for flexibly and adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat, and a pedaling mechanism (114 or 220) connectable to the frame and having a pair of movable pedals (140 or 224). The seatback is typically capable of swiveling. The pedals can revolve or translate back and forth. Another exercise machine contains a handle-translating mechanism (220) having a pair of handles (274) that translate back and forth. The frame, seat, seatback, and connection mechanism typically in combination with one or more pairs of handles (108, 110, 240, 242, and 252) form an exercise bench.

  • Patent number: 10596410
Abstract: An exercise bench contains a frame (100), an overlying seat (102), a seatback (104) having a longitudinal centerline (124), a connection mechanism (106) for flexibly and/or adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat so that the seatback is at an adjustable angle (?) to the seat, and at least three pairs of symmetrically positioned handles (108L and 108R, 110L and 110R, 240L and 240R, 242L and 242R, and 250L and 250R) connected to the frame, the seat, the seatback, or/and the connection mechanism. The connection mechanism has a swivel axis (122) which extends generally parallel to the seatback's centerline and about which the connection mechanism is turnable to enable the seatback to swivel.

  • Patent number: 8636628
Abstract: An exercise machine suitable for exercising a person's muscles contains a frame (100Y), a seat (102) situated over the frame, a seatback (104 or 104Y), a connection mechanism (106 or 106Y) for flexibly and adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat, and a pedaling mechanism (112Y) connectable to the frame and having a pair of movable foot pedals (140). The seatback is capable of swiveling and can be segmented to facilitate swiveling. The machine typically has a pair of retractable frame legs (302) so that the machine can be used for stationary cycling when the legs are retracted and as an elevated exercise bench when the legs extend downward. The machine may include a mechanism for rapidly switching the seatback between inclined and flat positions.

  • Patent number: 8206272
Abstract: An exercise machine suitable for exercising a person's muscles contains a frame (100), a seat (102) situated over the frame, a seatback (104), a connection mechanism (106) for flexibly and adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat, and a pedaling mechanism (112) connectable to the frame. The pedaling mechanism has a pair of movable pedals (140) that revolve generally around a pedaling axis. The seatback is capable of swiveling.

  • Patent number: 8118715
Abstract: An exercise machine suitable for exercising a person's muscles contains a frame (100Y), a seat (102) situated over the frame, a seatback (104), a connection mechanism (106Y) for flexibly and adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat, and a pedaling mechanism (112Y) connectable to the frame and having a pair of movable foot pedals (140). The connection mechanism includes (a) a seatback-attaching portion (120, 180, 184, 186, 188, and 190) attached to the seatback and (b) a support rod (128Y) extending between the seatback-attaching portion and a location within the frame. The support rod is of adjustable length for adjusting the incline of the seatback to the seat. The seatback can swivel about a swivel axis of the connection mechanism. The exercise machine normally has a pair of frame legs (302).

  • Publication number: 20090036274
Abstract: An exercise machine suitable for exercising a person's muscles contains a frame (100Y or 100Z), a seat (102) situated over the frame, a seatback (104 or 104Y), a connection mechanism (106 or 106Y) for flexibly and adjustably connecting the seatback to the frame or/and the seat, a pedaling mechanism (112Y or 112Z) connectable to the frame and having a pair of movable foot pedals (140), and a pair of frame legs (302 or 470). The seatback is typically capable of swiveling and can be segmented to facilitate swiveling. The legs can typically be retracted for enabling the machine to be used for stationary cycling when the legs are retracted and as an elevated exercise bench when the legs extend downward. Alternatively, the legs may permanently elevate the frame, seat, and seatback above the underlying surface. With the legs extending downward and with the pedaling mechanism connected to the frame, the pedaling mechanism can typically be tilted downward to facilitate use of the machine as an exercise bench.
