    Abstract: A battery charger obtains parameter values derived from communication from a battery pack being charged. The battery pack has at least one rechargeable cell, a semiconductor device that stores the charging parameters for the rechargeable cell and communication bus configured to communicate with a battery charger device. The battery pack may have an identification number. A lack of communication between the battery pack and a charger may invoke a default charging program or denial of access to the charger.
