Publication number: 20070064991Abstract: A system and method for detecting cheque fraud includes a cheque scanning module and a detection module. The cheque scanning module scans cheques and matches the encoded Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) data (i.e. serial number, Customer Account Number and amount) from the scanned digital electronic images with items in an issuance database which contains client provided cheque particulars. The detection module passes the cheque images through an optical character recognition (OCR) process to read what is written on the cheque and to match results against the issuance database. If the written information on the face of a cheque is unreadable or there is no match with the information in the issuance database, the detection module passes the cheque through a series of slower more precise OCR processes. An oscillation frequency at a selected amplitude of excitation for the selected group of ions is determined. Patent number: 6097984Abstract: There is provided a system and method for directly stimulating the LES of a patient in order to normally maintain it in a closed state, thereby preventing reflux and treating the symptoms of GERD. The stimulation is inhibited in response to patient swallowing, by monitoring esophageal motility and timing out an inhibition period following detection of motility representative of swallowing. The system utilizes an implanted stimulator which is programmed to deliver a train of stimulus pulses to one or more electrodes fixed around the gastro-esophageal junction and connected to the stimulator by one or more leads. The motility sensing is done by a sensor for sensing mechancial wave movement or electrical signals representative of high motility following swallowing. In the method, the target thickness of the target gas in Q2 is held at least at 1.32.times.10.sup.15 cm.sup.-2, preferably at least 3.30.times.10.sup.15 cm.sup.-2, and the DC offset voltage between Q2 and Q3 is kept low or zero. This greatly improves the resolution available in Q3. Patent number: 4320094Abstract: Alloy scrap containing refractory metals such as chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, niobium and tantalum and base metals such as nickel, cobalt, copper and iron are treated to partition the refractory metal values from the base metal values without an energy intensive remelting step. The scrap in finely divided form is calcined in the presence of an oxygen containing gas and a member of a certain group of alkali metal salts at a temperature in the range of 800.degree. C. to 1150.degree. C. for 1/4 hour to four hours. This treatment converts the refractory metals to alkali metal molybdates, tungstates, chromates, vanadates, niobates and tantalates and the base metals to oxides. The calcined product may then be water leached to produce a substantially base metal-free liquor rich in refractory metal values.
