Abstract: A Content Addressable Memory (CAM) architecture is disclosed wherein at least part of an access key is unconditionally written to a CAM memory location. This unconditional writing is performed while accessing a set of CAM memory locations for the purposes of matching the access key. This writing is performed regardless of whether a match to the access key is found.

Abstract: A bus switching apparatus and method for multiple processor computer systems comprises a plurality of bus switches interconnected by branch buses. Each processor or other module of the system is connected to a spigot of a bus switch. Each bus switch also serves as part of a backplane of a modular crate hardware package. A processor initiates communication with another processor by identifying that other processor. The bus switch to which the initiating processor is connected identifies and secures, if possible, a path to that other processor, either directly or via one or more other bus switches which operate similarly. If a particular desired path through a given bus switch is not available to be used, an alternate path is considered, identified and secured.

Abstract: A method for quickly, efficiently and accurately aiming a flood light at a preselected location which involves directing or redirecting the collimated radiative output of a low power laser source at a preselected location. The laser output may be aimed at a mirror on the flood light face and reflected directly back to the preselected location or the laser can be temporarily mounted to the flood light and the laser output directed parallel to the flood light beam axis at said preselected location.
