  • Patent number: 5206402
Abstract: The present invention is a process for the preparation of omega-alkenylchlorosilanes. The process comprises reacting a mixture comprising an .alpha.,.OMEGA.-diene and an organohydrosilane in the presence of a supported platinum catalyst to form an .OMEGA.-alkenylchlorosilane, where the mole ratio of the .alpha.,.OMEGA.-diene to the organohydrosilane is within a range of about 6:1 to 50:1. A preferred process is run as a continuous process employing a fixed-bed of silica gel supported platinum catalyst and excess .alpha.,.OMEGA.-diene is recovered and recycled to the process.

  • Patent number: 4962221
Abstract: The instant invention is a process for reducing residual chloride content of polysiloxane fluids, without detrimental effects on the polysiloxane polymer. The process comprises contacting the polysiloxane fluid, containing residual chloride, with selected weakly-basic alkaline metal compounds at a temperature less than 100.degree. C. After an appropriate contact time, the polysiloxane fluid is separated from the solid alkaline metal compounds. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, water is added to the process to facilitate removal of residual chloride.

  • Patent number: 4898961
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for preparing alkenylsilanes whereby a gaseous mixture consisting essentially of an acetylenic hydrocarbon and a silane containing a silicon-bonded hydrogen atom is directed into contact with a reaction medium in the form of a relatively thin moving liquid layer or film. The reaction medium comprises a solubilized hydrosilylation catalyst and the alkenylsilane produced as a product of the reaction. The reaction medium can optionally include an organic liquid that is a solvent for the catalyst, alkenylsilane and acetylenic hydrocarbon reactant.
