  • Publication number: 20090064255
Abstract: A method of providing performance data is disclosed that includes sending a data packet from customer premises equipment to a set-top box device via a network path at a transmission rate. The transmission rate is based on Network Layer performance metrics associated with the network path. The method also includes receiving performance data at the customer premises equipment from the set-top box device. The performance data relates to Physical Layer measurements. In addition, the performance data indicates a condition of a physical component of the network path.
