  • Patent number: 11971205
Abstract: The present invention provides an ice shaver with a 360° splash guard and shield. The guard circumscribes a gap between a top deck and a shave deck. In one aspect, a front arcuate portion of the guard can be a door that slides open and closed around an annular track. In another aspect, another rear arcuate portion of the guard can magnetically mount to the top deck. In another aspect, a channel can be positioned under the guard as an embedded water drainage channel positioned concentrically and underneath the rear floating magnetic splash guard to capture the water droplets spun off from the ice block and direct the water to a drainage opening in the channel.

  • Patent number: 11835284
Abstract: The present invention provides an ice shaver with a modular, thermally-isolated and removable shave disc that carries a blade and secures the blade relative to a frame and a column pressing an ice block against the blade. The shave disc is positioned opposite a spike plate and receives the ice block thereon. The shave disc is modular with an upper metal slip disc upon which the ice block rotates, and a lower plastic isolation pad that carries the metal disc and isolates the slip disc from the frame of the ice shaver. The isolation plate can carry the blade and the blade can extend therefrom through a slot in the slip disc. The shave disc, with the isolation pad, the blade and the slip disc, can be retained in a shave deck of the frame of the ice shaver and removed without tools for ease of cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20230263159
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition includes peracetic acid and witch hazel extract. The peracetic acid can be formed by combining and reacting the acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, for example at the point of use. Alternatively, the peracetic acid may be formed separately and mixed with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The resulting peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide are, thus, combined with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The combination of peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and witch hazel extract may be applied as an antimicrobial. The antimicrobial composition may be applied topically to various organs (e.g., skin, nose, ears, mouth, throat, urethra, urinary bladder, gastrointestinal organs) or instilled through an indwelling urinary catheter or applied or inserted as a topical additive or coating to devices or other organ surfaces or other medical devices, or on the skin of the body or surfaces of inanimate objects.

  • Publication number: 20230059958
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition includes an aqueous and/or ethanolic solution of iodine and hydrogen peroxide, which is acidified. The acidifying agent may be aspirin, hydrochloric acid, or other acidic agent tolerable to the body. The composition may also include a witch hazel extract, or alternately hamamelitannin, gallic acid, or other components thereof that effect quorum signaling inhibition that blocks and erodes microbe-induced biofilm on cellular and device surfaces. Acetohydroxamic acid may be combined with the composition as a counter to microbe-induced alkalinization, particularly in urine. Moreover, a metal, halogen, and combinations of these, such as a silver colloid, may be added as a secondary microbicidal agent. The antimicrobial composition may be applied topically to or instilled through an indwelling urinary catheter or applied as a device surface-coating on other medical devices.

  • Publication number: 20230058035
Abstract: The present invention provides an ice shaver with a multi-link, self-locking, force-reduction, motion control arm or armature to press an ice block against a blade. The armature has a lever with a forward handle, an intermediate connection to the column, and a rear connection to the frame of the ice shaver. A link is coupled between the rear connection of the lever and the frame of the ice shaver to form a four-bar linkage. The armature has a raised locked configuration in which the lever and the link are oriented substantially co-linear to maintain the column in a raised position. In another aspect, joints between the lever and the column can comprise dampers.

  • Publication number: 20230055322
Abstract: The present invention provides an ice shaver with a power control drive system to rotate the ice block and blade with respect to one another and to press the ice block and the blade together. The power drive system comprises an in-line, over-center, linear throw column extending through an opening in an enclosure and carrying a spike plate. A motor is carried by and contained within the column and movable with the column toward a shave deck with a blade. A perimeter size and shape of the column matches a perimeter size and shape of the opening. The column substantially closes the opening in the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20220111095
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition includes an organic extract, such as a witch hazel extract, and a colloid selected from metal, halogen, and combinations of these, such as a silver colloid. The witch hazel extract includes tannins in excess of about 10 mg/ml, such as hamamelitannin, and the colloid includes about 10,000 PPM of metal, such as silver. The antimicrobial composition may be applied to or instilled through an indwelling urinary catheter or other medical device.

  • Publication number: 20210316120
Abstract: A device for snugging a balloon of a catheter against an inner wall of an intra-corporeal lumen or surface serviced by the catheter includes a hollow column having a top end and a bottom end, forming a throughway sized to accommodate a tube of the catheter, and a flange extending from the bottom end of the hollow column generally perpendicularly to length of the hollow column. A slit is formed in the hollow column and the flange through which the hollow column is connectable to the tube of the catheter. The catheter is tugged to contact the balloon to the inner wall of the lumen, and the device is fixed to the tube of the catheter atop the skin of a body serviced by the catheter to tension pressure of the balloon against the inner wall.

  • Publication number: 20180326188
Abstract: A tissue bonding implantation device includes an internal drainage tube having an internal surface and an external surface, an inflatable balloon in the shape of a toroid encircling the outer surface of the internal drainage tube, and a balloon inflation conduit in fluid communication with an interior of the inflatable balloon. A transcutaneous sleeve in the form of a tube having an internal diameter allows the sleeve to fit over the external surface of the internal drainage tube, and the sleeve includes a horizontal flange positioned at a top edge of the sleeve. The horizontal flange lies flat on the skin surface. An external cap has a first sealable opening in fluid communication with the internal drainage tube and a second sealable opening in fluid communication with the balloon inflation conduit extending from the balloon to the cap proximate to the sleeve. A tissue-bonding anchor is reversibly attached onto the outer surface of the drainage tube in a watertight manner, via the inflatable balloon.
