  • Patent number: 5184917
Abstract: The method of treating a waste liquid or solid hydrocarbon to reduce risk of environmental contamination by the waste hydrocarbon, that includes forming a flowable cementitious paste of Portland cement and additives; introducing the hydrocarbon into the mix and distributing the hydrocarbon therein; forming the mix into a shape for curing, and allowing the formed mix to cure so as to encapsulate the hydrocarbon in the cured concrete mix.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 1992
Date of Patent: February 9, 1993
    Assignee: Polar Marine, Inc.
    Inventor: Donald H. Rez
  • Patent number: 5106424
Abstract: Decontamination of a beach or soil area that has hydrocarbon contamination including removing hydrocarbon contaminated sand or soil from an area; mixing the contaminated soil or sand with cement and water; and forming concrete from the mix.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 16, 1990
Date of Patent: April 21, 1992
    Assignee: Polar Marine Inc.

  • Patent number: 4904089
Abstract: A method of mixing particulate cement and water in a primary mixing vessel to form a slurry batch, includes introducing a measured quantity of water into the vessel, introducing a measured quantity of particulate cement into the vessel, agitating the water and cement in the vessel to form a slurry, and while continuing such agitating, pumping slurry from the lower interior extend of the vessel and delivering the pumped slurry to the upper interior of the vessel, at high velocity, removing slurry from the vessel for flow to an auxiliary mixing vessel for mixing with aggregate, and employing wash water to wash remanent slurry from surfaces in the primary mixing vessel for flow to the auxiliary vessel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 1989
Date of Patent: February 27, 1990
    Assignee: Standard Concrete Products, Inc.
Inventors: Harvey R. Dunton, Donald H. Rez
  • Patent number: 4872913
Abstract: A method for forming foam, useful in mixing with concrete at a batching plant, includes the steps:a) supplying a synthetic resinous foaming agent, in liquid form,b) combining the foaming agent with water, to form a liquid mix, and pressurizing the mix,c) adding pressurized air to the mix,d) sub-dividing the mix into droplets, in a confined flowing stream,e) reducing the stream confinement,f) whereby the droplets expand as a foam.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4789244
Abstract: A method for forming foam, useful in mixing with concrete at a batching plant, includes the steps:(a) supplying a synthetic resinous foaming agent, in liquid form,(b) combining the foaming agent with water, to form a liquid mix, and pressurizing the mix,(c) adding pressurized gas to the mix,(d) sub-dividing the mix into droplets, in a confined flowing stream,(e) reducing the stream confinement,(f) whereby the droplets expand as foam, typically consisting of individual, gas filled bubbles.

  • Patent number: 4426002
Abstract: A shippable assembly comprises:(a) a first mold having a recess therein, and cast and hardened material in said recess, and(b) a protective package on the mold. The package may comprise a second mold having a recess therein, and cast and hardened material in that recess.

  • Patent number: 4290408
Abstract: A refractory lattice for use in cooking above a flame source and below a cooking zone includes:(a) a series of integrally interconnected refractory bodies forming a generally horizontally extending lattice,(b) metallic members projecting lengthwise through multiple of said bodies and confined within the lattice to reinforce same,(c) whereby the bodies will be heated by flames rising from said source to radiate heat upwardly to the cooking zone, and the metallic members will not be directly exposed to said flames. The bodies are typically arranged in regular pattern over the lattice, and openings are formed at regular intervals over the lattice, and between the bodies.

  • Patent number: 4021979
Abstract: An alignment bracket used in combination with an extendible pole having a hooked end provides lateral and rotational alignment for the interengagement of precast concrete sections of underground concrete structures during their construction, eliminating the need for workmen to enter an excavation for this purpose. The bracket is moved by the pole after each section is positioned to provide alignment for the next section. During alignment the sections can be moved both rotationally and laterally by workmen applying force on the bracket with the pole.
