  • Patent number: 5179387
Abstract: An antenna whip construction having a radiating or radiation receiving antenna element, and an isolation transformer electrically connected between the antenna element and the support fitting of the whip, and all of which is bound into a structural self supporting whip. The isolation transformer has a pair of input terminals for connection to a transmission line, and the isolation transformer allows feed through from one of the input terminals to the antenna element but effectively isolates the antenna element from the other of the input terminals.

  • Patent number: 5083136
Abstract: A transmission line coupling device comprising a pair of coils each having an electrical length of one half of the wave length of transmitted frequency. Respective ends of the coils are connected together to give a full wave loop. The outside shielding of the transmission cable is connected to one end of the coils so that the coils have generally ground potential at their ends. The midpoint of the coils have maximum voltage, and the center conductor of the transmission line is connected to a point on one coil having an impedance matching that of the transmission line. The other coil is capacitively coupled in some fashion to the antenna.

  • Patent number: 4999642
Abstract: A transformer or coupling device having differing impedances and comprising a pair of conductors each constructed and arranged to have a standing wave in one which is a mirror image of the standing wave in the other so that the impedance varies from near zero at one end of the conductors to a maximum near their center. The transformer having an impedance matching that of one device to be coupled and having output terminals connected to points on the other conductor having an impedance matching that of the other device to be coupled.

  • Patent number: 4935746
Abstract: An efficiency monitoring antenna which has a sampling pick-up loop and LED coupled to the lead-in and senses and indicates returning power flow. Tuning and impedance matching elements are also included which allow the antenna to be tuned and matched to the transmission line.

  • Patent number: 4829311
Abstract: An antenna construction having a whip supporting sleeve with a depending support pin that is received in a socket in an antenna support sleeve, and with an insulator in the socket electrically separating the support pin from the support sleeve but providing a predetermined capacitance therebetween. The insulator rigidly connects the support pin to the support sleeve to resist lateral loads on the whip in a manner preventing cracking of the insulator. The antenna includes a structural inductance in parallel with the built in pin-socket capacitance to allow a shorter whip at resonance than the prior art base loaded antenna.

  • Patent number: 4360814
Abstract: A trimming device for a whip antenna, and the like, wherein two coaxial coils are connected in series with each other and with the antenna whip; and a tuning ring is positioned in the combined external magnetic field of both coils. The tuning ring, being in the external field, has an annular flow of electricity induced therein which in turn produces a magnetic field which opposes that of the coils. In the preferred arrangement, an insulating spacer sheet is wrapped over the inside coil, and the outside coil is wound tightly over the spacer sheet to provide a predetermined amount of intercapacitance between the coils, which can be changed by changing the thickness of the spacer sheet.

  • Patent number: 4280129
Abstract: An electromagnetic tuning device for RF circuits and particularly loading coils for antennas is disclosed. The preferred devices have a coil which produces a generally torroidal shaped electromagnetic field that is intensified by either a core of ferromagnetic material or a second coil inside the other coil. An insulating material surrounds and hermetically seals the coil and field intensifying device that is inside said coil; and an electrically conductive tuning ring is positioned outside of the insulating material for producing a counter magnetic field which opposes and cuts down the field produced by the first mentioned coil. In one embodiment, the tuning ring is threaded and it threadably engages the insulating material so it can be adjustably positioned relative to the torroidal field. In another embodiment the tuning ring is connected in electrical series circuit with a variable resistor.
