  • Patent number: 4314719
Abstract: A latch mechanism for limiting the translation of a panel unit slidably secured in a track member includes a slide member secured in the track and adapted to translate therealong. The slide member includes an aperture in the bottom portion thereof which is registrable with any one of a plurality of depressions formed in the bottom of the track member. The slide member includes a pair of opposed, upwardly extending end tabs which retain a latch member therebetween. The latch member includes an aperture registrable with the aperture of the slide member, and is translatable transversely with respect to the track. A ball is disposed between the latch member and the slide member, and is adapted to fall gravitally into the aperture of the slide member and seat in a depression in the track. With the latch aperture aligned with the ball and slide aperture, the slide member may be translated along the track by unseating the ball from the track aperture.

  • Patent number: 4244610
Abstract: A lock for use in conjunction with a window panel slidably supported in a track of a channel member includes a stop member which is permanently and translatably secured in the track of the channel member. The track includes a generally tubular portion extending the length thereof and the stop member includes a generally U-shaped lower portion, with the distal end of the U-shaped portion slidably disposed in the tubular track portion. The stop member includes a web portion extending upwardly from the U-shaped portion, and a top panel extending orthogonally from the upper end of the web. The stop member may be pivoted about the portion engaged in the tubular part of the track to increase the frictional engagement therewith and prevent translation of the stop member. The top panel of the stop member includes obliquely extending edges which are engaged by the sliding window panel to rotate the stop member into the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4190271
Abstract: A lock for use in conjunction with a window panel slidably supported in a track of a channel member includes a stop member which is permanently and translatably secured in the track of the channel member. The stop member impinges on selected ones of the weep hole openings in the channel member to limit the sliding translation of the window panel in its track. In one embodiment the stop member includes a longitudinally extending, inverted U-shaped portion, with flanges extending laterally in opposite directions from the distal edges of the U-portion. In another embodiment, the stop member includes horizontal and vertical web portions joined edge to edge, with an oblique web portion extending from the upper edge of the vertical web portion above the horizontal web portion. A pair of tab members may extend from the oblique portion to facilitate manual positioning of the stop member in the track.
