  • Publication number: 20210292740
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of inactivating viruses that may be present in human platelet lysate (hPL) by exposure to ionizing radiation. Surprisingly, the hPL retains an acceptable amount of bioactivity without requiring freeze-drying or the addition of a stabilizer. The hPL can be used as a supplement for in vitro culture of various cell types, especially human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) and for various therapeutic applications.

  • Patent number: 7677855
Abstract: Apparatus and method of increasing adhesion of thermal binder strips to coated papers by conditioning an edge of the sheet by splitting the edge which results in an expansion of the edge followed by compressing the edge so as to reduce or eliminate the expansion. • Patent number: 6726206
Abstract: A board game includes hexagonal game pieces that are rotatable between discrete orientations at array locations on a game board as well as being movable between array locations, with game outcomes being dependent on facing indicia of adjacent game pieces of opposing players. Exemplary game pieces are hexagonal representations of turtles, the game board array locations also being hexagonal. Edge margin segments of each game piece have associated indicia representing the integers 1 through 6, and a moving piece having equal or superior indicia facing an opposing piece can “take” the opposing piece. Also disclosed is a method for using the board game.

  • Patent number: 6343794
Abstract: A lubricant seal having no wearing surfaces is provided with a partition plate having a gutter portion and a slinger supported in a labyrinth cavity. This lubricant seal is particularly useful in larger seal applications where the wear of the rotating shafts exceeds the wear characteristics of available seal material. Migrating lubricants are captured in the gutter portion of the partition plate and are directed through the gutter portion around and below the shaft where the lubricant is returned through a drain to a sump.

  • Patent number: 6298754
Abstract: A wrench tool suitable for use by firefighting personnel. The tool has an elongated handle, and a spanner part at a first end of the handle. The spanner part has a projecting claw for operatively engaging a pin on the circumference of a pipe or a hose coupling ring to be rotated by the tool. A wrench part, at a second end of the tool handle opposite the first end, has jaws arranged for adjustable relative movement to grip an object to be turned by the tool. The range of movement of the jaws includes a position at which the jaws are set to receive and safely grip an outside levering tool for producing increased leverage when operating the spanner part of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4395850
Abstract: A surface treating adapter device for use in combination with a recirculating abrading device includes an adapter housing affording a hollow cup-shaped chamber, an aperture in the housing to receive the discharge nozzle of an abrasive gun, an exhaust outlet including means for detachably engaging a low pressure line from the abrading device, interchangeable hollow working tool members, and tubular connecting members releasably and adjustably joining the adapter housing and a selected one of the tool members. The tool members which contact the surface to be abraded are each of varying configuration for accommodating surfaces of varying contour and for making a sealing engagement therewith. The abrading operation is performed within the confines of the tool member being used. Abrasive is introduced through the housing aperture and impinges upon the surface area enclosed by the tool member.

  • Patent number: 4385462
Abstract: A transparency viewing system employs an illuminated viewer adapted to be used with an overlay device and/or film retaining clips. Brackets are provided to define longitudinal open channels at opposite edges of the illuminated viewing surface. The overlay device is of a size to span the viewing surface such that the marginal edges thereof, which have a configuration similar to that of the open channels, may be inserted into the open channels so that the overlay device is held against the viewing surface. Each retaining clip includes a mounting portion having a configuration similar to that of the channels and may be adjustably positioned along the channels so that its operating portion is biased against the viewing surface to hold transparencies placed between the clip and the viewing surface in position.

  • Patent number: 4375740
Abstract: A portable abrading cabinet device is provided for use in a recycling abrasive blasting system. The cabinet device includes a cup-shaped housing affording an inner blasting chamber. The forward open end of the housing has a peripheral resilient seal to provide airtight engagement with the surface to be abraded. The housing has an inlet aperture for the barrel of a sand blasting gun which delivers rapidly moving abrasive material to the surface to be worked. A funnel-shaped exhaust means in the housing terminates in a fitting which detachably receives a conduit connected to accommodate an external source of vacuum so that spent abrasive and debris may be removed from the inner blasting chamber of the cabinet housing. A transparent window member in the housing permits an operator to observe the abrading operation, the window member being partially shielded by a pair of deflectors which redirect ricocheting abrasive and debris within the cabinet housing.

  • Patent number: 4300318
Abstract: A cabinet device is provided for use in combination with an abrasive blasting system. The inner chamber of the cabinet device is maintained at a pressure of less than ambient air pressure during an abrading operation by applying a source of vacuum to an exhaust outlet in the bottom of the cabinet below the article being abraded which is supported on a rack in the chamber. A blasting gun in the chamber is manipulated from outside the cabinet by an operator. An inlet for ambient air is located in the cabinet above the article on the rack and, during an abrading operation, establishes a continuous current of air downwardly toward the cabinet exhaust outlet to clear the space in the cabinet above the rack of view-obscuring debris and dust caused by the blasting operation. An improved sealing device between the cabinet cover and the peripheral sidewall of the cabinet housing is also provided.
