    Abstract: Particulate borate-soap compositions containing sodium bicarbonate are produced by reaction of a fatty acid with a mixture of hydrated sodium tetraborate and alkali metal carbonate in a fatty acid: carbonate mole ratio of about 1:1 to 1:2. The product comprises particles of borate coated with soap and sodium bicarbonate in which the soap represents about 5 to 35% by weight of the composition.
