  • Patent number: 5337123
Abstract: A single pass tandem architecture electrophotographic printing machine in which a photoconductive belt is supported by a plurality of spaced, stationary and arcuate members for transferring each color image from the photoconductive belt in registration with one another and having minimum registration errors from mechanical apparatus. Each of the latent images recorded on the photoreceptor belt is developed with different color developer material. The different color developed images are transferred from the photoconductive belt to a sheet of support material in superimposed registration with one another to print the desired multicolor information thereon.

  • Patent number: 4756940
Abstract: A strain relief system for flexible circuits has a tapered cover laminate affixed to either side of the flexible circuit to form a cover laminate/flexible circuit assembly, with the widest portion of the cover laminate being at the point of maximum bending stress of the flexible circuit to provide a stiffer assembly at that point. A rigid stiffener having a bending radius also is affixed to either side of the cover laminate/flexible circuit assembly at the point of maximum bending stress to provide strain relief, the bending radii being laterally offset from each other so that bending in opposite directions occurs at different locations of the flexible circuit. The result is a gentle, low stress bend in the flexible circuit when subjected to regular bending.

  • Patent number: 4134673
Abstract: The cleaning apparatus comprises a first cleaning brush arranged for brushing engagement with the imaging surface and a second cleaning brush arranged for brushing engagement with the imaging surface following the first cleaning brush. The first cleaning brush has a first brush to imaging surface interference. The second brush has a second brush to imaging surface interference which is greater than the first interference. In accordance with preferred embodiments the first interference has a magnitide of from about 20% to about 80% of the second interference.

  • Patent number: 4123154
Abstract: A cleaning apparatus and an electrostatographic reproducing machine wherein a cleaning element is arranged to remove residual material from an imaging surface. The cleaning element is subjected to corona emissions from a one or more corona generators and is arranged to engage both the imaging surface and the corona devices to clean them both. In an alternative embodiment the corona emission device is utilized as a flicking element to help remove the residual material from the cleaning element.

  • Patent number: 4076564
Abstract: Cleaning imaging material from a xerographic imaging surface with a cleaning blade with reduced friction between the blade and the surface is provided without image degredation by an appropriately roughened surface, which roughness is formed on the photoconductive surface by substrate pre-etching to provide a final or post coated roughness pattern of 3 to 5 microns and less than 20 microns.

  • Patent number: 3954332
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for heating an electrically biased transfer roll in an electrostatic reproduction machine so as to improve the transfer of a developed electrostatic image from a photoreceptor to a transfer member during operation of the machine. The roll is heated to maintain the resistivity thereof within a range which will effect optimum transfer, and to overcome the detrimental effects of ambient conditions such as humidity changes on the resistivity.

  • Patent number: 3948654
Abstract: An improved electrophotographic imaging process is disclosed wherein toner film formation is reduced and cleansability of photoreceptor surfaces is enhanced. The process involves contacting a photoreceptor surface with a material selected from the group consisting of certain perfluoro organic acids or acid derivatives to form a thin film of the material on the surface, and using the thus coated surface in an electrophotographic imaging process.
