  • Publication number: 20030198035
Abstract: A circuit card that includes a single ground plane connectable to a chassis-ground and a logic device having a ground pin connected to the single ground plane. The connection between the ground pin and the single ground plane provides a direct path between the logic device and the chassis-ground. A power supply is connected to an input pin of the logic device for providing a logic voltage to the logic device. The power supply is connectable to a battery.

  • Publication number: 20030095502
Abstract: A system and method for protection switching in a transmission network is described. A protection switching mechanism comprises a multiplexer, a transmission path for each output of the multiplexer and a remote circuit. The multiplexer has an input coupled to receive an input signal and a plurality of outputs to output a plurality of output signals. Each transmission path is coupled to receive an associated output signal from the multiplexer. The transmission paths further include one or more redundant transmission paths, wherein signals directed to a faulty transmission path are redirected to an associated redundant transmission path. The remote circuit is used to selectively switch a redundant transmission path for a faulty transmission path at a subscriber.

  • Patent number: 6173629
Abstract: An improved power operated tool holder and actuator unit (10) is provided which permits use of conventional, manually operable pivoted dual-leg tools (e.g., pliers, nippers or crimpers) and eliminates the need for specialized tools of this character. The unit (10) includes a tool holder (20) operably coupled with an actuator (18) which can be controlled by a foot switch (14). The holder (20) has upper and lower tool leg clamps (78, 82) which respectively hold the ends (178, 180) of a dual-leg tool (172). The lower leg clamp (82) is coupled via an operator (80) to a pneumatic piston and cylinder assembly (30) controlled by switch (14). In use, a charge of pressurized air delivered to the assembly (30) effects movement of a piston rod (40) which in turn moves leg clamp (82) so as to close the work performing ends (182, 184) of the tool (172).

  • Patent number: 5515930
Abstract: A handheld pneumatic power tool apparatus is provided for use with a supply of pressurized air. The apparatus includes a handpiece and a pressure regulator assembly for regulating the pressure of air supplied to the handpiece. The handpiece includes a cylinder having first and second ends, an anvil positioned at the first end of the cylinder, and a piston received in the cylinder for bi-directional oscillating movement between the ends.

  • Patent number: 5203417
Abstract: An impact power tool for use in supporting a tool tip for hand-working operations comprises a body presenting a bore and having first and second ends. A piston is received within the bore and is shiftable relative to the body, and an anvil is received within the bore at a first end of the body and is shiftable relative to the body along the longitudinal axis thereof. The anvil includes a recess extending in a direction substantially parallel with the axis of the bore so as to define a receptacle in the anvil adjacent the first end of the bore. A tool carrier block is provided which is shaped for receipt in the recess of the anvil and which includes a set screw for permitting attachment of the carrier block to a tool tip to be supported on the impact power tool. The carrier block is retained in the anvil by friction-fit engagement sufficient to retain the carrier block in the receptacle and to permit manual removal of the carrier block.

  • Patent number: 4373299
Abstract: A tool sharpening or finishing machine is provided having an improved, low cost, laterally shiftable and tiltable tool-supporting table adjacent a rotatable, abrasive wheel. The table is supported for back-and-forth shifting by a roller bearing assembly having a plurality of spaced apart and resiliently biased together bearings connected to a base, with a shiftable element received between the bearings and connected to the table. The base is preferably slotted between the spaced bearings to form a structural spring within the base, and one of the bearings is eccentrically mounted for selective variation of the effective distance between the bearings, so that the bearing assembly can be properly preloaded without the need for precision manufacture of the assembly components.

  • Patent number: 4259814
Abstract: An improved sharpening machine is provided for easy, extremely accurate sharpening of a variety of tools such as lathe, boring and cutting tools. The machine includes a rotatable, low speed, diamond or other abrasive surfaced wheel, and a tool-supporting table mounted for translatory movement along a path parallel to the wheel abrasive face. The table is further mounted for measured tilting thereof relative to the wheel face, and for shifting of the table and associated structure completely clear of the wheel to facilitate certain sharpening operations and wheel replacement. With the table pivoted completely away from the wheel, the cutting wheel can be operated in a plane perpendicular to its original operating plane. A pivotal tool guide is removably secured to the table for selective alteration of the angular position of a tool being sharpened.
