  • Patent number: 5372687
Abstract: A cathodic protection anode assembly for metal structures in water is now provided with highly desirable rugged construction. The assembly is particularly useful for providing cathodic protection utilizing an anode, in submersed condition, on one side of a structure while having an assembly protruding through an opening in the structure with a connection at the back side of the structure to a lead-in cable. Such structure may have the back side in ambient air. For the back side structure, the assembly has a highly desirable leak resistant characteristic. Moreover, the assembly can provide efficient low contact voltage at the anode and cable connection.

  • Patent number: 5112447
Abstract: In the electroplating of certain metals, such as zinc, a metal build-up in the electroplating bath occurs due to a higher anode efficiency than cathode efficiency, in the cell, and also due to chemical dissolution of the anode in the electroplating bath. An electrowinning cell is provided to remove metal from the electroplating bath. The electrowinning cell is operated with a current sufficient to remove metal from the bath substantially equal to that chemically dissolved into the bath as well as the build-up due to the difference in the anodic and cathodic efficiencies.

  • Patent number: 4586562
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger assembly is provided having an anodic protection system comprising a plate heat exchanger frame, a plurality of heat exchanger plates mounted to the frame and means for selectively applying a voltage across the plates whereby during operation of the plate heat exchanger assembly biofouling and scaling is inhibited. The plurality of heat exchanger plates are mounted to the frame to define a plurality of heat exchange chambers for heat communication between a first and second process fluid being transmitted through the assembly. An insulating contact coating at points of electrically conductive contact between adjacent plates of the heat exchange chambers is provided such that the chambers comprise electrolytic chambers means are provided for selectively applying a voltage across said adjacent plates. A method of applying the insulating contact coating to a heat exchanger plate is also disclosed.
