Publication number: 20080106092Abstract: A fluid coupling that attaches to a threaded component. The body portion of the fluid coupling has an end that defines a flow path along an axis and includes a first seal groove. An extension of the fluid coupling is mounted onto the end. The extension rotates about the axis and moves axially relative to the body portion. The extension includes a threaded tip for threadably coupling the threaded component. The extension also has a radially extending face adjacent the tip that includes a second seal groove. A first seal of the fluid coupling is positioned in the first seal groove and is adapted to provide a seal between the body portion and the extension. A second seal of the fluid coupling is positioned in the second seal groove and is adapted to provide a seal between the extension and the threaded component.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2007Publication date: May 8, 2008Applicant: LASCO FITTINGS, INC.Inventors: Donald J. Patent number: 6899355Abstract: An improved fitting having an improved flexible tubing tip to connect to flexible tubing, e.g., FUNNY PIPE brand polyethylene pipe, used for sprinkling systems and other fluid delivery systems. According to one aspect of the present invention, one or more annular barbs are positioned at or toward the back of the portion of the fitting inserted into the flexible tubing, with a threaded or spiral or helix portion being positioned at the front of the portion of the fitting inserted into the flexible tubing. According to another aspect of the present invention, the threaded or spiral or helix portion of the fitting is slightly tapered to facilitate insertion into the flexible tubing. According to yet another aspect of the present invention, a double helix spiral thread is used.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2002Date of Patent: May 31, 2005Assignee: Lasco Fittings, Inc.Inventors: Donald J. Patent number: 5143117Abstract: A check valve assembly is disclosed for use with a pool or spa plumbing system and includes first and second hub sections connected together by a nut member. An insert member carrying an elastomeric diaphragm is sandwiched between the first and second hub members to permit fluid flow in a first direction and prevent fluid flow in a second reverse direction. The assembly is designed such that the nut member may be moved longitudinally along one of the hub sections to expose and permit removal of the insert member in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the hub sections. The nut member and insert are configured to cooperate with each other such that the insert may only be mounted in the assembly facing in a predetermined direction.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Tomkins Industries, Inc.Inventor: Donald J. Klein

Patent number: 4783100Abstract: A swivel joint assembly for plumbing systems includes a first fitting having a receptacle end and a second fitting having a plug end positionable in the receptacle end. The plug end and receptacle end having cooperating mating surfaces, one of which has a locking groove divided into first and second portions, the more distal of which is shallower than the other. The other surface has a groove to receive a locking ring also positioned in the locking groove. A barrel end of the plug receives a seal member to seal against the inner surface of the receptical end.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1987Date of Patent: November 8, 1988Assignee: Philips Industries, Inc.Inventor: Donald J. Patent number: 4113829Abstract: Method of making grooved, bell-ended thermoplastic pipe. In order to remove the core from undercuts, most of the molded article is cooled until substantially rigid while the bell-end is cooled more slowly. The article is ejected from the mold while the bell end is still soft enough to be deformed during ejection but recovers its shape after removal from the mold.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Philips Industries Inc.Inventors: Donald R. Bowker, Donald J. Klein, Stephen E. Rados

Patent number: 3966982Abstract: There is described a process and apparatus for treating oleaginous seed materials, such as soybean flakes with an extraction solvent, which includes an extraction zone, a desolventizing zone, and a miscella treating zone. In the extraction zone, the oleaginous seed material is subjected to concurrent contact with a carbohydrate-selective extraction solvent in a plurality of extraction vessels arranged in countercurrent fluid relationship therebetween with the expression of treated solids being effected after each extraction. The expressed solids from the last extracting vessel are passed to a desolventizing zone wherein residual solvent is vaporized by the respective indirect and direct contact with a heat transfer medium, such as steam, to produce a protein concentrate having a concentration (moisture free basis) of proteinaceous matter of at least about 70% by weight (6.25 times the total nitrogen content by the Kjeldahl method).Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1973Date of Patent: June 29, 1976Assignee: Dravo CorporationInventors: Kenneth W. Becker, Klemens C. Baczewski, Donald J. Klein
