  • Patent number: 9288972
Abstract: A tool and collar for affixing a multi-banded skirt to a fishing lure is disclosed. The collar includes a base member containing a central bore having a first portion with a first diameter and a second portion having a greater diameter. An outer annulus is contained on the collar for receiving a binder. The tool includes first and second mateable rods which receive the collar therebetween. Banded strands dispose on each rod in relation to the collar. The binder is positioned over each strand and disposed into the annulus to tie the strands to the collar. Opposing ends of each banded strand are cut to form the skirt. The collar and skirt are removed from the rods and positioned onto a lure with the first portion of the bore seating onto a retaining portion of the lure, and the second portion of the bore disposed about a flange thereof.

  • Patent number: 6544372
Abstract: Multi-stranded silicone rubber fishing skirts printed with RTV adhesive inks and/or laminated with colored foils and the method of manufacture of the fishing skirts are disclosed herein. The RTV inks set in the presence of humidity. The foils and inks can be applied to a silicone rubber substrate in preferred patterns and in registry with other areas containing foil or ink. The adhesive ink preferably comprises a mixture of an RTV adhesive, oil based thinner and/or pigment. In various processes, the ink is silk-screen printed and air-dried. One or more foils can be bonded to the rubber with different techniques. The foil can be vulcanized to the rubber substrate, bonded to a wet ink, or bonded under pressure to exposed smooth surfaces. The surface texture can be defined during and after vulcanization at the mold and with a smoothing template or with printed ink.

  • Patent number: 6533151
Abstract: A storage container system adapted to support a number of open-ended storage tubes. A lanyard, retainer clips and/or tethered paraphernalia (e.g. forceps, fingernail clippers, scissors, magnifying glass etc.) are supported to appending arms. Loops and/or sleeves at the carrier compressively contain bobbers, forceps, scissors and other relatively long stemmed items. Relatively large loops can project from the carrier to contain other detachable film canisters. Internal vent channels and ports at the carrier or the tubes can communicate with the atmosphere to vent moisture from the tubes. In lieu of fitting each tube to a bore, projecting cap pieces can contain the tubes to the carrier.

  • Patent number: 5960580
Abstract: A multi-filament lure dressing having an elastomer core piece which attaches to a fishing lure and supports one or more rattle chambers. A longitudinal bore extends through the core and bored appendages and/or additional filaments radially project from the core. Plastic rattles having flanged heads mount to the appendage bores. One or more multi-filamented silicone rubber skirts, which can include transverse projections, are wrapped and adhesively bonded to the core to obscure supported rattles. During construction, the primary bore of the core is fitted to a mandrel and a peripheral band of a skirt having spaced apertures, which is pre-coated with an adhesive, is wrapped about the core and supported to a pin retainer fitted to the mandrel. An elastomer band clamp contains the wrapped skirt through adhesive curing. Once set, the wrapped skirt is cut from the mandrel and trimmed to prepare the skirt for mounting to a lure.

  • Patent number: 5899015
Abstract: A lead head jig constructed to shelter a multi-filament lure dressing and a fish line attachment. A variety of ellipsoid head configurations are disclosed which include a lateral channel that shelters a hook eye recessed into the head at the channel. The eye is variously positioned relative to a center vertical axis through the center of the head, e.g. rotated forward and at the vertical axis. The eye position and head shape cause the lure to roll and raise a barbed end of the hook as the lure is retrieved. A recess is concentrically aligned to a hook shank which lies along a horizontal plane at the center of the head and receives a multi-filament skirt. In alternative tapered head jig configurations, which also include recessed skirt cavities, the hook eye is recessed into a snout of the head. A concave surface extends below the eye to permit a rolling retrieve. A ridge is also formed aft of the eye in one tapered head construction. A weed guard projects to protect the hook barb.

  • Patent number: 5517782
Abstract: An elastomer fishing lure dressing retainer and mating sound chamber. A body piece secures the retainer to a lure and/or to a lure dressing. One or more integral, accessory retainers radiate from the body to secure a rattle or other dressings to the lure. Alternative retainers provide open looped bands or tubular body and accessory pieces to contain a discreet rattle, scent, beads and/or a plug which enhances sound and/or stores scent. Alternative discreet rattle constructions, which mate to the retainers, provide a bead containing housing having a flanged mounting head. A plug may be recessed or project from the housing or a tubular accessory piece and may comprise a bead, or open cavity plug for amplifying sound or storing scent.

  • Patent number: 5261182
Abstract: A fishing lure including three components, a base, a skirt, and a nose. The base has a fishing line attachment, a spacer portion connected at a first end to the fishing line attachment, a bulbus body connected at a first side to an opposite end of the spacer portion, and a hook having a shank, a reverse bend and a point extending from a second side of the body. The skirt component is carried by the spacer portion between the bulbus body and the fishing line attachment. The nose, releasably engages the base adjacent the fishing line attachment. The nose includes a bore capable of passing fishing line and means for protectively covering the fishing line attachment. The lure also has means for suppressing catching upon weeds. The body and spacer portion are cast of lead upon the shank of the hook. The body shape is such that it provides an offset center of gravity relative to the hook shank.
