  • Patent number: 7997171
Abstract: An attachment for a portable hand-held screw driving tool is provided for use with collated strips of screws. The front portion of the attachment is movable to a great extent, to thereby allow the tool to drive screws almost directly at the corner of two walls. A front “nose piece” is pressed against one of the walls, which causes the nose piece to move rearward “into” the remainder of the tool, in a “first stage” of movement. A screw is indexed to its drive position, and a drive bit is abutted against the screw head during this first stage. The nose piece is pressed further into the tool, which also causes a “feed tube” to move rearward “into” the remainder of the tool, in a “second stage” of movement, which rotates the screw as it is emplaced into the wall.

  • Patent number: 5988026
Abstract: A screw feed and driver assembly which may constitute a part of a screw driving tool of the type having a prime mover, a speed and torque determining gear assembly and a clutch; which can constitute an accessory for a clutch containing manual feed power screw driver; and which, combined with a clutch, can comprise an accessory for a standard manual power drill. The screw feed and driver assembly comprises a feed housing with a slide body mounted therein and shiftable between forward and rearward positions. The slide body is biased to its forward position. The slide body receives a strip bearing screws. A contact foot is mounted on the slide body and shifts the slide body rearwardly when pressed against a workpiece. A screw driver, affixed to the clutch, extends into the slide body. The slide body contains a pawl and feed sprocket assembly. The sprocket engages notches in one edge of the screw bearing strip.

  • Patent number: 5368213
Abstract: An improved magazine for a fastener driving tool having a two piece back plate allowing easy access to the drive track for removing jammed fasteners from the tool. The magazine consists of a first fixed rail having a back plate section perpendicular to the rail, and a second rail slidable with respect to the fixed rail, having a second back plate section perpendicular to the rail. When the magazine is in the fastener driving position, the back plate sections provide extra support for the drive track.

  • Patent number: 4610381
Abstract: A drywall tool provides tactile and audible feedback to the user, as a fastener is driven by frequent multiple blows, to indicate when the fastener is properly driven, and the drywall dimpled, without tearing the paper facing of the drywall. Dimpling apparatus and a firing valve for controlling the multiple blows are described. A cam is provided to withdraw the magazine follower from the last fastener in a strip to avoid jamming or damage by a descending driver. Tool apparatus permits use of lightweight, synthetic parts.
