Abstract: Processes and systems for pyrolysing a hydrocarbon feed for a predetermined period of time, e.g., by steam cracking. The process can include determining a first amount of silicon material present in the hydrocarbon feed that is to be steam cracked to produce a steam cracker effluent. • Patent number: 10910812
Abstract: A high accuracy open phase detection system for power transformers that uses a combination of logic controllers and current transformers to recognize an open phase condition experienced by the power transformers under no load, light load, and full load conditions. A current to voltage and current to current transformer on each phase are employed to detect the excitation current and load current conditions. During an open phase condition, a microprocessor detecting device, connected to the current to voltage and current to current transformers, monitors the appropriate power system quantities to determine the existence of one or more open phase(s) with or without a ground or an open phase with line charging capacitance. Through the microprocessor monitor, the microprocessor detecting device can alert operators to the loss of phase or abnormal conditions in the power source.

  • Patent number: 8669407
Abstract: Described is an apparatus for, and a method of, recovering linear butenes from a mixed feed comprising providing a first mixed feed comprising linear butenes and isobutene; contacting the first mixed feed with an oligomerization catalyst such as an MWW family zeolite in a first oligomerization reactor to produce a second mixed feed comprising the linear butenes, C8 olefins and higher oligomers, and a reduced amount of isobutene relative to the first mixed feed; and separating the second mixed feed to produce a first effluent of first purified linear butenes, and a second effluent of C8 olefins and higher oligomers. The oligomerization reactor may be a converted isobutene-to-methyl-t-butylether reactor.

  • Patent number: 5157201
Abstract: A method of removing sulfur components from a hydrocarbon stream which involves contacting a hydrocarbon stream including an initial amount of at least one sulfur species selected from the group consisting of mercaptans, organic sulfides, and disulfides with a catalyst capable of adsorbing the sulfur species in the absence of extraneously added hydrogen and under conditions suitable for removing the at least one sulfur species from the hydrocarbon stream by the catalyst to form a resultant hydrocarbon stream containing a reduced amount of the at least one sulfur species.

  • Patent number: 4977871
Abstract: A system for the substantial removal of polynuclear aromatic compounds from lubricating oil used to lubricate the engine of a motor vehicle comprising a sorbent located within the lubricating system and through which the lubricating oil circulates which is capable of removing substantially all of the polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons from the lubricating oil. The sorbent is preferably activated carbon which may be impregnated with additives typically found in lubricating oils especially antioxidants, to prolong the useful life of the oil.

  • Patent number: 4675463
Abstract: An improved process for oligomerizing olefins is provided in which olefin feed is contacted with phosphoric acid catalyst to form an olefin oligomerization product containing phosphorous-containing foulant precursors. The olefin oligomerization product is then contacted with a foulant adsorbent comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of alumina, activated alumina and magnesium oxide in an amount and under conditions sufficient to effect removal of at least a portion of said foulant precursors. The treated olefin oligomerization product stream can then be passed to downstream recovery and process equipment with minimized fouling.
