  • Patent number: 6706277
Abstract: Disclosed are stable portable oral care confectionery compositions, which provide enhanced anti-calculus effects, optionally combined with additional oral care benefits. The present invention also relates to use of such compositions to provide improved surface conditioning effects and reduced metal astringency. The confectionery compositions comprise: (i) greater than about 1% of a polyphosphate material having an average anion chain length of greater than or equal to 4; (ii) less than about 10% water; and (iii) a suitable confectionery carrier material comprising less than about 2% elastomer by weight of the composition.

  • Publication number: 20040033205
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of whitening a person's teeth comprising treating the teeth with a whitening dentifrice and subsequently, but within a ten minute period thereafter, applying a self-supporting film of liquid bleaching product to said teeth, for a bleaching period of at least five minutes, preferably overnight. At the end of the bleaching period the whitening dentifrice can be used to remove residual bleaching product and the whole process repeated. The whitening dentifrice comprises a surface stain remover, selected from water-soluble polyphosphates, phosphonate polymers and dental abrasives having an RDA value greater than 120, which enhances the whitening effect. The bleaching product comprises a tooth bleaching agent and a liquid carrier and has a viscosity of less than 1000 mPa.s at a shear rate of 10s−1 and a temperature of 25° C.

  • Patent number: 6677391
Abstract: The present invention relates to a non-aqueous denture adhesive composition comprising a safe and effective adhesive amount of a denture adhesive; a safe and effective amount of an anticalculus agent; and a non-aqueous denture adhesive carrier; wherein the anticalculus agent is a material effective in reducing calcium phosphate mineral deposition related to calculus formation. The present invention further relates to a method of delivering an anticalculus agent to the oral cavity and teeth, by applying the above composition to dentures, directly to the oral cavity, or applying it to both, and thereafter securing the dentures to the oral cavity.

  • Publication number: 20030206874
Abstract: The present invention relates to promoting whole body health in humans and animals by using topical oral compositions comprising an antimicrobial agent, in particular stannous salts, such as stannous fluoride and stannous chloride in combination with a polymeric mineral surface active agent such as condensed polyphosphates or polyphosphonates. In addition to providing a spectrum of intraoral benefits, topical administration of the present compositions to the oral cavity surprisingly provides benefits to systemic health. In particular, the present invention relates to methods of using the present topical oral compositions to reduce the risk in development of cardiovascular disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, diabetes, severe respiratory infections, premature births and low birth weight, post-partum dysfunction in neurologic and developmental functions, and associated increased risk of mortality.
