In some embodiments, a method of operation of a dual-mode STB that consumes content from a DTH satellite system when operating in a DTH satellite mode and consumes content from an IPTV system when operating in an IPTV mode comprises consuming content on a LTV channel in the DTH satellite mode and deciding whether to switch to the IPTV mode before consumption of content on the LTV channel in the DTH satellite mode is compromised. The method further comprises, upon deciding to switch modes, switching from the DTH satellite mode to the IPTV mode. The method further comprises, after switching modes, consuming content on the LTV channel in the IPTV mode.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for providing an enhanced Restart Television (TV) service. In some embodiments, a playout device receives a restart TV request for a linear TV content item, where the restart TV request is a request to restart playout of the linear TV content item in an enhanced playout mode of operation. The playout device is further operable to obtain the linear TV content item from a server system, obtain metadata for enhanced playout of the linear TV content item where the metadata defines required playout segments of the linear TV content item, and provide enhanced playout of the linear TV content item. Enhanced playout includes starting playout at a beginning of the linear TV content item and automatically beginning fast-forwarding playout to a first required playout segment defined by the metadata.

In accordance with one embodiment, a method for managing, by a service provider, a program stored within a service provider network includes determining a first number of subscriptions for the program. If the first number of subscriptions is less than a first threshold, at least a portion of the program is transmitted to at least a first multimedia device having a subscription for the program and the program is removed from the service provider network.

The radio is configured to receive the identification of each of the at least one other SB DMR. The processor is configured to authenticate the SB DMR based on the received identifications to determine if the SB DMR is part of a group of SB DMRs sharing a common subscription.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method performed by an intermediate proxy node via which client devices request data resources from a data resource server. The data resources are organized into different data resource collections. The method includes receiving a request for a subset of a data resource collection and, responsive to receiving such a request, determining that the collection is not stored in a request-agnostic cache maintained by the proxy node. Responsive to this determination, the method further entails retrieving the collection from the data resource server. The method then includes extracting the requested subset from the retrieved data resource collection and selectively returning that subset as a response to the request. Finally, the method entails storing the data resource collection in the request-agnostic cache for serving other requests for data resources in the data resource collection, including a request for a different subset of the data resource collection.

While the client device is receiving a first multicast stream from the streaming server, the apparatus receives notification of the recent or impending occurrence of a defined event of interest characteristic of the multimedia content in a second multicast stream. Responsive to receiving such notification, the apparatus directs the streaming server to stream to the client device a third stream whose video content comprises windowed video content of both the first and second multicast streams. This windowed video content comprises video content from the first and second multicast streams arranged in respective windows. Such event-triggered streaming thus enables a user of the client device to simultaneously watch both the first and second streams, as desired, by efficiently receiving only a single third stream.

The text message has a code for indicating to the terminal that the text message contains control information and a text portion being the control information. The logical node receives information regarding the terminal from a Wireless Serving Node (WSN) located in the WLAN. The logical node has knowledge of an access point connected to the WSN that currently serves the terminal in the WLAN. Abstract: The present invention relates to method for integrating a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) and to a Wireless Local Area Network Serving Node (WSN) therefore. For doing so, the WSN receives Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) Request message from an Access Point (AP), the RADIUS Request message including terminal's credentials. The WSN proxies the RADIUS Request message at a RADIUS proxy capability. The WSN authenticates the terminal using the terminal's credentials. The WSN manages charging operation for the terminal.
