  • Patent number: 4222199
Abstract: A combination of a rigid trough formed of a bottom and raised sides and a conduit which carries the water-nutrient solution to plants contained therein, the conduit being contained within the trough and being placed in the trough sufficiently spaced between the sides thereof to permit access to the underside of the conduit. A Dike Stick is so sized to fit under the conduit in one situation to provide a partial damming effect and to fit on top of the conduit by bridging the sides of the trough.

  • Patent number: 4118891
Abstract: In a conduit system for feeding water and nutrients to plants, the conduits are formed of thin, pliable, collapsible plastic foil. The plant is placed in the tube through slots in the tube and the conduit is placed upon a sloped platform so that nutrient in water solution fed in at one end of the conduit can drain through the conduit and out the other end thereof. A stick member to partially dam the flow of the solution through the conduit is used at the location of a plant root system in the conduit to assure adequate feeding of the root system, especially before the root system is well developed. The stick may be provided with legs thereby to form a bridge with a plurality of such bridges arranged to bridge over the tube at locations so spaced along the tube as to support a horizontally disposed vine substantially out of contact with the tube.

  • Patent number: 4047328
Abstract: A greenhouse is disclosed in which tubular curved members formed of standard unit lengths are used to form arched rafters while the same tubular members in uncurved form are used to form purlins. The tubular members are connected by suitable clamps to form a structural support for the roof of the greenhouse. A side leveling plate is provided on either side of the greenhouse to which the ends of the rafters are attached. The side leveling plate serves to anchor the rafters in the ground and also serves as a stapling surface for the covers placed over the roof of the structural support of the greenhouse. An environmental control system is provided in which the temperature, humidity and other environmental factors are controlled so as to provide enhanced growing climate for the tomato plants grown therein. Additionally, novel systems for correcting overwatering of the troughs as well as monitoring the water levels therein are provided.
