  • Patent number: 6190018
Abstract: A flashlight having a power source and a light source having a high intensity positioned in a power source frame. The flashlight further includes a power source frame housing that encloses the power source frame. The frame and the housing cooperate to secure and protect the internal components of the flashlight. The flashlight is further provided with side covers that have flat surfaces to receive markings or engravings. A switch is provided to activate the light source, the switch preferably providing tactile feedback to the user.

  • Patent number: 6045237
Abstract: The flashlight of the present invention is comprised generally of a flashlight chassis which houses energy cells, a flashlight head which houses a beam adjustment assembly, and an endcap which houses a switch assembly. The beam adjustment assembly and the switch assembly utilize printed circuit boards to support the lamp bulb and switch, respectively. The beam adjustment assembly mounts inside the flashlight head and can only be accessed and adjusted by removing the outer lens retaining ring that secures the assembly within the head. Once accessed, the bulb support of the assembly can be rotated relative to the reflector of the assembly to adjust the light focal length of the flashlight. The adjustment assembly is also provided with a shock absorber that supports the light bulb. In one embodiment, the endcap is provided with a threads to permit the flashlight to be axially attached to an expandable baton.

  • Patent number: 5165048
Abstract: A battery recharger that can be used with a standard flashlight having a flared head and a generally cylindrical body includes a recharger unit that accepts flashlight batteries for recharging and a clamping structure that grasps the flashlight where the flashlight head joins the flashlight body and exerts enough clamping force to support the weight of the recharger unit when it contains the batteries. Substantially all of the flashlight body is free to be used as a carrying handle and also to be used as a lever arm to remove the flashlight from the grip of the clamping structure. The recharger includes recharging circuitry that can fully charge high-performance battery sticks up to their rated power of 4.4 amp-hours. The recharger accepts both two-cell and three-cell size battery sticks, and can be moved about to whatever locations are necessary.

  • Patent number: 4115842
Abstract: A flashlight charging and storage receptacle has a battery charger in its base. The charger includes a male plug which cooperates with a female electrical receptacle in a charging circuit of a flashlight stored in the flashlight receptacle when the flashlight is not in use. The receptacle of the flashlight also serves to operate a separate electrical device, such as a warning light. The base of the flashlight receptacle has ventilation holes to keep a charging resistor and light emitting diode cool. The receptacle has feet for mounting on a vertical wall, such as a wall of a vehicle with the head of the flashlight angled away from the wall for easy access.

  • Patent number: 3970228
Abstract: A flashlight holder ring receives the body of a flashlight. The diameter of the head of the flashlight exceeds the diameter of the ring so that the head cannot pass through the ring. An on-off switch housing and guard protrudes from the body of the flashlight and prevents withdrawal of the light from the ring. Registration of a bridge or arch section of the ring with the housing and guard permits freeing the flashlight from the ring. A strap attached to the ring at the bridge provides for attachment to a belt.
