  • Patent number: 5586914
Abstract: An electrical connector which provides compensation for crosstalk includes a number of conductors positioned at least partially within an internal cavity defined by a housing. The elongate conductors are generally substantially parallel and laterally spaced and include a resilient contact portion at a first end and an insulation displacement contact portion at a second end. The elongate conductors include a pair conductors, at least a portion of which are positioned in an overlapping, vertically spaced relationship. The portions of the pair of conductors which overlap are generally wider than the substantially parallel, laterally spaced portions of the conductors so as to thereby define respective compensating segments. The length of the compensating segments as well as the width of the portion of the compensating segments which overlap can be selected to establish capacitive coupling between the compensating segments so as to thereby compensate for crosstalk between the conductors.

  • Patent number: 5453019
Abstract: This invention relates to the field of communication equipment, such as cellular phones, but more particularly to a switch connector to allow for switching from one antenna, i.e. internal, to another, i.e. external. The switch connector comprises first and second intermatable, generally circular connector members, where the first connector member comprises a metallic shell having a dielectric insert therein, where the insert includes a central through cavity, and a pair of formed, electrical, spring contact arms arranged to electrically interconnect in a resiled condition. The second connector member comprises a metallic shell having a dielectric insert therein, where the insert includes a central through hole for receiving a single formed contact arm having a mating end supported by the insert.

  • Patent number: 4767353
Abstract: A continuous strip of connector housing material is described which comprises a succession of housing segments that are latched together at their ends. Each segment contains a plurality of individual housing cells that are connected to each other by severable webs. The latches between juxtaposed segments are also severable. A connector housing of a desired size, as the regards the number of terminals therein, is obtained by severing from the end of the strip the desired number of housing cells. The connectors thus produced may be of the type which require a closure member which is fitted into the wire receiving ends of the cells. A continuous strip of closure members are also provided. The housings may by of either the feed-through type which are installed on wires intermediate the wire ends, or they may be of a wire end type, which are installed on the ends of wires.

  • Patent number: 4527857
Abstract: Stamped and formed electrical terminal has a conductor-receiving portion comprising parallel plate-like members having aligned conductor-receiving slots. The terminal has a transition portion intermediate the ends thereof and has a contact portion extending from the transition portion. The transition portion comprises first and second sections which extend from the plate-like members. Each section has an arcuate cross section part adjacent to the plate-like member which fairs into a part having a U-shaped cross section. The contact portion comprises one or more arms that extend from at least one of the U-shaped parts. In one embodiment, each U-shaped part has two contact arms extending therefrom which are resiliently biased against each other to provide contact force on a complementary terminal when the two terminals are coupled.

  • Patent number: 4445737
Abstract: An electrical distribution system for an electric lighting system including a plurality of electric lights comprises a lighting connector mounted on each of the plurality of electric lights and including an insulating housing having terminal members therein electrically connected to the electric leads of the light. A control connector has an insulating housing with first and second levels of contact members therein which are interconnected together in a predetermined manner. One of the first and second levels of contact members of the control connector is electrically connectable with the terminal members of one of the lighting connectors and also electrically connectable with electric leads connected to an electrical switch. The other of the first and second levels of contact members of the control connector is electrically connectable to contact elements in an insulating housing of a power-in connector which contact elements are also connected to electric leads connected to a power source.

  • Patent number: 4310213
Abstract: A kit for an electrical connector is disclosed for use in connecting a first electrical device to a second electrical device; for example, connecting an audio microphone to a CB radio. The kit includes a cable guard member receiving therethrough a cable from the first device; first and second terminal members, with the first terminal members connected to conductors of the cable; and a connector housing having cavities extending therethrough to receive the second terminal members. The second terminal members are loaded into the cavities and the first terminal members subsequently inserted therein in mating engagement with the second terminal members. When the connector housing and cable guard member are connected together and the housing plugged into a socket mounted in the second electrical device, electical connection is established between the first and second devices. The kit further includes cable strain relief means and coupling means to secure the connector to a mating connector.
