  • Patent number: 4833767
Abstract: For controllably spreading or prying the periphery of a locked automobile door away from its jamb, there is provided a locksmith's spreading tool having a primary member adapted to securely hook the door periphery and having a secondary member adapted to stationarily abut the jamb. A manually engageable motivator causes the hooked primary member to move away from the relatively stationary abutting secondry member. The resultant prying away of the door periphery from the jamb enables the locksmith to insert an elongate probing tool into the automobile to unlatch the locked door.

  • Patent number: 4697789
Abstract: A monolithic block, preferably singularly constructed of moderately resiliently compressible and flexible resinous material, has a generally horizontal base surface, two angular ends including a left-wedge of about 30.degree. to 40.degree. and a right-wedge of about 10.degree. to 20.degree., and an upper-medial surface terminating at fulcrums alternatively abuttable against an automobile door pane. Selectable employment of an angular end will wedge sufficient space between the transparent fragile pane and the opaque casing of an automobile door to permit insertion of some conventional locksmith's probing tool for unlocking the automobile door, and without appreciable danger of cracking or damaging the fragile door pane.

  • Patent number: 4655102
Abstract: Disclosed is improved locksmith tool of the probing type wherein a locksmith, stationed externally of a locked motor vehicle operator's compartment, inserts the elongate probing tool between the door glass window and the hollow door supporting the window, and fishes deeply beneath the glass pane within the hollow door for the lock-rod which (upon tool engagement and manipulation) will unlock the vehicle door. Unlike prior art elongate probing tools which entail the tedious and unreliable hooking-around flexure of the lock-rods, the improved elongate probing tool concept herein disclosed easily and reliably engages the lock-rod (whether it be of the horizontal or vertical type) with an aptly positioned sawteeth member as the tool forward lower end, and which sawteeth member includes at least two multi-teeth rows that occupy distinctly different planes.
