  • Patent number: 5421666
Abstract: Several cylindrical studs radiate from a spherical central hub to form a connector for joining adjacent ends of tubular structural members. The connector has six orthogonally arranged studs each sized to be fitted in an end portion of a structural member. The connector is formed in two identical halves secured together along a central plane bisecting four of the studs. The hub of the connector has a continuous peripheral wall, and the studs have tapered walls decreasing in thickness from such continuous peripheral wall outward toward the free ends of the studs. In a desired framework construction, one or more of the studs can be cut off without exposing the interior of the hub or jeopardizing the strength of the connector.
