  • Patent number: 10012040
Abstract: A modular tool body having upper and lower sections, a pair of longitudinal members define a central open region, the longitudinal members joined at one end having a lifting feature formed therein configured to accept a manipulator. The lifting feature is positioned such that when the modular tool body and a rig tool connected thereto are lifted by the manipulator, they are easily moved over, aligned with, and connected with a working drillpipe or other rig tool while minimizing possibility of the manipulator slipping off. The lower section includes a threaded end mating with a mating end of a rig tool, a central longitudinal bore, and an upper end formed to accept the lower ends of the longitudinal members of the upper section. Elongate slots in each longitudinal member define one or more manipulating handles. A pair of generally horizontal hand holds may be formed in each longitudinal member.

  • Patent number: 7258165
Abstract: A down-hole tool guide is disclosed for deflecting various down-hole tools having a tendency to hang or bind in uncased bore holes. The down-hole tool guide or ball guide assembly, being adaptive to the down-hole tools, extends forwardly there from and includes an eccentric rotatable ball and high-pressure jets. In cases where the guide is used to guide casing, the ball guide assembly is constructed from a drillable material thereby allowing the hole bore to be extended beyond the last set casing depth without side deviation from the original bore.

  • Patent number: 5865398
Abstract: A multi-function air inlet control apparatus for an aircraft engine includes an air inlet frame housing a plurality of adjacent, spaced apart louvers attached by hinges at opposing ends to the air inlet frame. The hinges allow the louvers to pivot through a substantially 180 degree angle defined by a vertical plane of the air inlet frame. A linking device interconnects with each of louvers, whereby the louvers are moved in unison through the substantially 180 degree angle. An actuator communicates with the linking device for controlling the movement of the louvers in response to operating parameters of the aircraft engine. The multi-function air inlet control is a single device that fulfills the need for additional air during takeoff and other critical modes, and that will dump air overboard when the engine is throttling or is shut down.

  • Patent number: 5839511
Abstract: A tool for washing out drill cuttings accumulations in blowout preventer stacks connected to oil and gas well prior to testing the blowout preventers. The tool utilizes a finned tubular member and a brush to break away and fluidicly scour drill cuttings and the like from the well head casing connection and the blowout preventers and riser casing connected thereto with high pressure fluids emitted from the tool being directed into the crevices of the preventers, thereby flushing cuttings accumulations upwardly, through the riser casing to the surface for removal, prior to pressurizing the well head and testing of the system by actuating the ram type blowout preventers.

  • Patent number: 5218862
Abstract: The relative speed of the tires of a vehicle is monitored as an indication of the operating state of the vehicle, wherein if the vehicle is not operating in one of a number of predetermined states, the relative speed is monitored as an indication of relative pressure of the vehicle tires, and further wherein differences in relative speed not related to the predetermined states, and not related to differences in relative pressure, are accounted for.

  • Patent number: 4729158
Abstract: An apparatus and method for interconnecting a drill collar and a stabilizer in axial alignment is disclosed. The tool includes an upper plate and a lower plate held in spaced, parallel relationship to one another with the upper plate having a plurality of peripheral holes around it. A plurality of rods project between the upper and lower plates, each one of the rods being mounted at a bottom end to the lower plate and inserted adjacent its top end in sliding relationship through one of the peripheral holes in the upper plate. A spring is placed around each of the rods for biasing the top plate away from the lower plate, and an attachment pin projects downwardly from the lower plate for insertion into a kelly pin hole on an oil rig. A stabilizing pin projects upwardly from the upper plate, and a rotatable plate is rotatably secured to that stabilizing pin intermediate the ends of the stabilizing pin.

  • Patent number: 4724803
Abstract: A rocker arm in an internal combustion engine is pivotably supported by a fixed fulcrum retainer with a rocker key operatively positioned therebetween. The rocker arm and fulcrum retainer each have a concave, semi-cylindrical bearing surface and the rocker key has a pair of spaced apart, opposed convex, semi-cylindrical bearing surfaces, the concave, semi-cylindrical bearing surfaces and associate convex, semi-cylindrical bearing surfaces having radii ratios on the order of 1.7:1 to 3:1 and preferably 2:1 whereby to effect substantial rolling contact of these elements relative to each other. In addition, the rocker arm is preferably of U-shaped configuration as defined by a base with side walls depending from opposite sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 4382514
Abstract: A one-piece fiberboard carton having an integral dispensing flap. A tear strip is drawn along an edge of the dispenser flap which is formed intermediate the top and bottom edges of the front surface of the carton so that the flap may be pulled out of the plane of the front of the carton and disposed at an angle with respect to the carton so that when the carton is placed on a side, product stored within the carton can be dispensed by gravity feeding it through the opening adjacent the dispenser flap. Alternatively, the dispenser flap may be taped by adhering a tab to the front wall of the carton which may be cut along a line to open the same. Oppositely disposed web corners attach the dispenser flap at an acute angle to the front wall of the carton so that when it is opened, the product will not fall from the carton unless the carton is intentionally placed on its side in a dispensing position.

  • Patent number: 4373666
Abstract: An engine cooling-passenger heating system is disclosed having an integrated multi-mode valve arrangement which operates in a no-heat mode to bypass all available flow to the passenger heater past the heater for continued circulation without disruption in the engine cooling system and further operates in a heat mode to effect flow through the heater while also being responsive to the pressure drop across the heater above a predetermined value to also simultaneously establish in the heat mode a restricted connection bypassing a portion of the available coolant to the heater to thereby limit the flow through the heater as well as the pressure differential acting thereon.
