  • Publication number: 20120092502
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring presence and movement are provided. One or more wave sensors configured to emit sound waves and detect reflections of the emitted sound waves may collect measurements data that is provided to one or more processing components, such as a smart security camera or a home security system. The measurements data may be evaluated in order to determine a location of a monitored subject and to detect changes in the location of the monitored subject. In this regard, movement of the monitored subject may be tracked and utilized to implement a wide variety of control actions, such as the control of security cameras and/or the triggering of alarm events.

  • Publication number: 20120019353
Abstract: Systems and methods for activating monitoring systems are provided. One or more parameters associated with the automatic activation of a monitoring system may be identified. The one or more parameters may be identified by a learning algorithm based upon historical information associated with the monitoring system. A determination may be made as to whether the one or more parameters have been satisfied. If it is determined that the one or more parameters have been satisfied, the monitoring system may be automatically activated. In certain embodiments, the above operations may be performed by a system that includes one or more computers.

  • Patent number: 6005991
Abstract: The printed circuit board assembly includes a printed circuit board having an interior portion upon which a flexible optical circuit is mounted and edge portions surrounding the interior portion. The flexible optical circuit includes a pair of at least partially flexible sheets and a number of optical fibers sandwiched between the flexible sheets. The first ends of the optical fibers extend toward an edge portion of the printed circuit board. In order to conserve space along the edge of the printed circuit board while providing interconnections for each of the optical fibers, a multifiber connector can be mounted upon the respective first ends of a predetermined number of optical fibers. Connectors, such as single fiber connectors, are also mounted to the second ends of the optical fibers.

  • Patent number: 5743785
Abstract: The method and associated apparatus of the present invention polishes the front face of a ferrule with first and second slurries such that an end portion of each optical fiber which extends through and is held by the ferrule protrudes beyond the preferentially etched front face of the ferrule by a preselected length. In order to preferentially etch the front face of ferrule as desired, the front face of the ferrule is polished with a first slurry having a plurality of suspended particulates of a first predetermined size on average which initiates the preferential etch of the ferrule relative to the optical fibers. Thereafter, the front face of the ferrule is polished with a second slurry having a plurality of suspended particles of a second predetermined size on average.
