Patent number: 9334715Abstract: A first end of a conductive spring is embedded in a wall of a large chamber of a piston housing. The spring is held in tension by a second end of the spring being pinned against a bead contact by a trigger pin. The diameter of the piston and a tensile breaking strength of the trigger pin are selected so that the trigger pin is breakable and the tension in the spring is releasable upon the presence of a predetermined pressure difference between a pressure on the contact side of the piston and a pressure on the pinning side of the piston. Release of tension in the spring closes an electrical circuit.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2014Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Clovis Satyro Bonavides, Donald Leon Crawford, Paul Anthony Molina, Gabriel Vicencio Mata

Patent number: 9322247Abstract: A method and system for collecting information of a rig operation, including subterranean operations at a rig-site. The system may include an integrated control system, wherein the integrated control system monitors one or more rig operations, and comprises a centralized data acquisition server coupled to one or more sensor units of the rig operations. The system may further include a central computer that can communicate with sensor units, and store the data in a central time-synchronized database accessible by a central data acquisition server, wherein the central time-synchronized database collects data from the various sensors to generate a time-synchronized overview of rig operations.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2011Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Fabian Fidel Rojas, Evan Davies, Ronald Johannes Dirksen, Donald Leon Crawford

Patent number: 8739860Abstract: An actuation apparatus includes an electronics module (102), an actuator module (104) coupled to the electronics module and electrically communicating with the electronics module, and a motor (112) in the actuator module coupled to a drive member (106), the drive member moveable between a first position and a second position, wherein the movement of the drive member between the first and second positions is adjustable in response to a signal from the electronics module. In some embodiments, the electronics module is operable to adjust a speed of the drive member. The motor may be a brushless direct current motor. In other embodiments, the actuation apparatus (300) includes a processor and a memory, the adjustable drive member is engaged with an actuatable tool (200), the processor receives feedback from the drive member and the tool, and the processor is operable to create a signature in response to the movement of the drive member and compare the signature to a baseline.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2008Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Donald Leon Crawford, Daniel F.
