  • Patent number: 5575670
Abstract: A compliant boot (30) for protecting the electrical connection between a PCMCIA card (14) and receiving socket (18) from dust and other contaminants when used in a harsh or dusty environment such as on-board a refuse collection vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1995
Date of Patent: November 19, 1996
    Assignee: Eaton Corporation

  • Patent number: 5559280
Abstract: A transducer housing for mounting a port in a combustion chamber has a metal diaphragm exposed to the combustion gasses. The pressure of the combustion gasses deflects the diaphragm which locally deflects a simply supported beam. The beam is formed of refractory material having epitaxially grown crystalline piezoresistors formed on one surface of the beam and connected in a bridge circuit. Noble metal foil leads connect to the piezoresistors to form the bridge and provide attachment pads. The pads are noble metal welded to other noble metal foil pads provided on a ceramic substrate to form a sensor subassembly for mounting adjacent the diaphragm to form a transducer.

  • Patent number: 5497867
Abstract: A pin-type, double-acting synchronizer mechanism (18) with friction clutches (20,32 and 22,34), jaw clutches (24,14b and 26,16b) and self-energizing ramps. The ramps act between a shaft (12) and a shift flange (28) which is rotatable relative to the shaft and jaw clutch members (24,26). Flange (28) includes radially inwardly extending teeth (48) defining self-energizing ramps (48a,48b,48c,48d) which act against ramps (50a,50b,50c,50d) defined by a post-like portion (50) formed from shaft splines (12b). Three circumferentially spaced pins (36) include blocker shoulders for preventing asynchronous engagement of the jaw clutches and pre-energizer surfaces which each cooperate with a pre-energizer assembly (38). Friction members (20,22) of the friction clutches are slidably splined to gears to prevent relative rotation therebetween and abut surfaces (14d,16d) defined by gears (14,16) to limit axial movement away from mating friction rings (32,34), respectively.

  • Patent number: 5172797
Abstract: An improved braking mechanism (100) is provided for use in conjunction with a change gear transmission (50) that is selectively engagable with a vehicle engine (4) by a clutch (3). Mechanism (100) has a piston (22) slidably received in a primary fluid chamber (34) that is operative to cause mechanism (100) to act as an inertia brake upon establishment of a first set of predetermined operating conditions. Piston (22) is also slidably received in a secondary fluid chamber (36) that is operative to cause mechanism (100) to act as a hill holding brake upon establishment of a second predetermined set of operating conditions.
