Publication number: 20220170895Abstract: A method of newborn screening (“NBS”) is disclosed comprising directing ultrasonic energy or ultrasonic waves into a metabolite or analyte sample derived from a newborn, neonate or infant so as to cause a mist of charged sample droplets or sample ions to be ejected. The charged sample droplets or sample ions are then mass analysed and a determination is made as to whether or not one or more first metabolites or analytes indicative of a disorder or inborn error are present in the sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2020Publication date: June 2, 2022Applicant: Micromass UK LimitedInventors: Donald Mason, Heather Brown

Patent number: 7229514Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for manufacturing a curved hose. The method is comprised of the steps of (a) forming a hose assembly, the hose assembly comprising: (i) an innermost layer of a halogenated polyolefin rubber; (ii) a polyester reinforcement overlaying the innermost layer, the reinforcement having disposed on its surface an RFL adhesive comprising a chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber; and (iii) an elastomeric cover overlaying the braided reinforcement; (b) cutting the hose assembly into hose lengths; (c) shaping the hose lengths into predetermined curved hose shapes; and (d) curing the curved hose shapes.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: Peter Donald Mason, Charles Frederick Bender, Tony John Kotsos, Richard Vitai Huynh, Arthur Joseph Culham

Patent number: 5835735Abstract: The present invention provides a method for negotiation of compatible functionality between applications using network communications. The present invention provides a process which automatically negotiates between applications operating in a Picture Archival and Control System (PACS) so that each application sends and receives data and messages in accordance with each application's stated functional conformance claim. The functional attributes of each application are declared in a conformance claim. The conformance claim of each task is represented by an Unique Identifier (UID) which uniquely identifies the task within the network and also specifies the attributes of the task.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1995Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Donald Mason, Christopher A. Criswell

Patent number: 5671353Abstract: The present invention provides an object oriented structure existing on a digital computer or PACS and a method, executed on a digital computer or PACS. The invention comprises a structure providing a plurality of semantic definition and validation objects and a method which semantically validates a DICOM message by passing the message through the structure. DICOM messages are comprised of a plurality of elements. A plurality of these elements are grouped into a module. A plurality of modules are grouped into an Information Entity (IE). A plurality of IEs are grouped into an Information Object Description (IOD). A pluratility of IODs are grouped into a block. A plurality of blocks comprise a DICOM message. The semantic validation objects provide a structure and method for defining, examining and semantically validating the Elements, Modules, IEs, IODs, and Blocks which comprise a DICOM message. The present invention generates warnings regarding the semantic validation of the DICOM message.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1996Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Helen He Tian, Brian C. Patent number: 5668998Abstract: A application program interface is provided to a toolkit framework of service objects which enable rapid creation of application computer programs which implement the services and protocol of the Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) standard. A framework of service objects is provided which enables a programmer to easily develop application methods which provide DICOM services or other custom services. An object-oriented application interface is provided. The service objects provide a familiar connection between the familiar DICOM standard service objects and a group of associated methods within the framework. The associated methods work together to provide a DICOM service. Service Class User and Service Class Provider objects manage service object communications and are derived from baseclasses in the framework.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1995Date of Patent: September 16, 1997Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Donald Mason, Betsy Ann Zimmerman

Patent number: 4159214Abstract: A crack free layer of GaP is epitaxially deposited on a silicon phosphide surface of a silicon substrate having an (III) orientation. The silicon substrate is prebaked on a carbide coated susceptor with palladium diffused hydrogen at about 1200.degree. C. and pretreated with phosphine at about 1140.degree. C. to form the silicon phosphide surface. The temperature is lowered to 800.degree.-900.degree. C. in the presence of phosphine and trimethyl gallium is introduced at a ratio of 1 to 10 with the phosphine. Cracks in the gallium phosphide are prevented by roughing the bottom non-phosphine. Cracks in the silicon substrate such that the roughed surface is under compressive stress and induces tensile stress on the phosphided surface to reduce the compressive stress reduced by gallium phosphide layer when the substrate is annealed at about 1200.degree.
