  • Publication number: 20240150907
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved Kolbe reactor system for converting electrical power into a hydrocarbon fuel and hydrogen. More specifically, the present disclosure provides a Kolbe reactor system comprising an open cavity Kolbe reactor and an initial hydrocarbon chemical formulation comprising from about 3N to about 6N C2-C5 carboxylic acid and from about 2M to about 4M alkali C2-C5 carboxylate, wherein the C2-C5 carboxylate and carboxylic acid have the same carbon alkyl length. The Kolbe reactor system can be continuously fed with C2-C5 carboxylic acid to maintain the initial formulation for a continuous process. Electrical energy is stored by converting the carboxylic acid to hydrocarbon fuel and hydrogen, and is recovered by combustion of the hydrocarbon fuel and hydrogen, and or conversion in a hydrogen fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20110081585
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for simultaneous co-production of electric power and a short chain carboxylic acid or salt thereof from a primary alcohol fuel. The primary alcohol can be obtained from coal, natural gas, wood waste or other biomass material. Moreover, there is disclosed a process that does not produce or release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses. Specifically, there is disclosed a liquid fuel cell process technology provides electric power from coal, via a primary alcohol fuel, and allows a commercial scale electric power generating facility to capture at least 70% of the carbon contained in coal (or another carbon-based fuel source such as methane or biomass) for a beneficial and economically favorable use. The captured carbon is converted by the disclosed fuel cell process technology into industrial commodity chemicals such as formic and acetic acids.

  • Patent number: 7714892
Abstract: Disclosed are various systems, devices and methods for digital camera image stabilization. In one embodiment, a digital camera captures a plurality of digital images of a subject simultaneously or near-simultaneously and stores the captured images in memory as individual digital data sets. While the digital images are being captured simultaneously or near-simultaneously by means of a plurality of rolling shutters, a relative position determination device such as an angular rate sensor is employed to sense and save to memory data representative of the relative positions of the digital camera at the moments the individual digital images or frames are being exposed. Spatial shift directions and magnitudes are calculated in a processor of the camera on the basis of such data, and then applied to the individual data sets to form aligned data sets comprising aligned data points.

  • Patent number: 7499468
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically establishing lightpaths in an optical telecommunications network. The system implements tokens which are used to advertise the availability of receivers downstream. The tokens notify a source when a transmission fails. The tokens also include lightpath reservations and indicate priority of reservations. The innovative system preferably comprises a ring topology with chords that connect non-contiguous nods of the ring.

  • Publication number: 20070159930
Abstract: An improved watch for sports personnel which comprises a watchcase, a wrist loop extending from one side of case and a thumb loop extending from opposite side of the case. The watchcase houses a watch mechanism, a display and control buttons. The watch can be worn by a user by inserting hand in the wrist loop and thumb in the thumb loop, such that the watchcase rests on the knuckle of the thumb. This allows the user to see the display without turning hand, thereby preventing the distraction caused by turning hand to view the time during running. The loops are made of flexible materials and are adjustable to accommodate different wrists and thumb sizes.
