    Abstract: A unitary tripod shaft for torque transmission includes an interconnecting shaft and a tripod body welded together to form a propeller shaft assembly. The tripod body has an end co-axially fixed to an end of the interconnecting shaft and three circumferentially spaced trunions extending therefrom. The tripod body is welded to the interconnecting shaft. A method of making the unitary tripod shaft is also provided.
