  • Patent number: 5690913
Abstract: An extrudable composite multilayer dentifrice composition for cleaning teeth containing reactive bicarbonate and peroxide ingredients which do not interact during storage or when extruded together from a container onto a toothbrush but react in the oral cavity when mixed during tooth brushing, the composition comprising two separate dentifrice components, one component containing a peroxide ingredient and the other component containing a colorant reactive with the peroxide ingredient, the components having substantially equivalent viscosity which are maintained in stable discrete layered phases in interfacial contact with each other prior to extrusion without interaction of the peroxide and the colorant and which are extrudable together in interfacial contact without interaction of the ingredients.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 1996
Date of Patent: November 25, 1997
    Assignee: Colgate Palmolive Company
Inventors: Donald P. Hsu, Rajnish Kohli, Richard J. Crawford, Nagarj S. Dixit, Michael A. Collins, David B. Viscio
  • Patent number: 5614174
Abstract: A dentifrice composition containing reactive ingredients such as peroxide and bicarbonate compounds which are stabilized to decomposition during storage by incorporating in the dentifrice composition about 1.0 to about 5.0% by weight of polyethylene glycol 2000.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 1994
Date of Patent: March 25, 1997
    Assignee: Colgate Palmolive Company
Inventors: Donald P. Hsu, David B. Viscio
  • Patent number: 5599527
Abstract: A storage stable oral composition which is effective against calculus which contains an orally acceptable vehicle having incorporated therein an effective anticalculus combination of about 0.5 to about 2% by weight of a water soluble pyrophosphate salt and about 0.5 to about 3% by weight of a water soluble polyphosphate salt. The presence in the composition of polyvalent metal compounds and fluoride compounds do not affect the stability of the composition as well as reactive ingredients such as peroxide and bicarbonate compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 1994
Date of Patent: February 4, 1997
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Donald P. Hsu, Rajnish Kohli, Michael Prencipe
