  • Publication number: 20070186555
Abstract: A nozzle system includes a multitude of circumferentially distributed divergent seals that circumscribe an engine centerline. Each divergent seal includes an interface between a forward seal bridge bracket and an aft seal bridge bracket with a forward bridge support and an aft bridge support which provides axial and radial support for the divergent seals between adjacent divergent flaps. A divergent-convergent seal joint structure includes a horn and a fork. By having the forward bridge bracket retain the divergent seal in the axial direction, there is no need for axial sliding of the divergent seal relative to the divergent flap. The joint structure provides circumferential support as the axial and radial support are provided by the bridge-bracket interface.

  • Patent number: 7239140
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing vibration-related artifacts in diffusion weighted imaging determines a vibrational frequency of an MR system and modifies scan parameters such that vibrational frequencies induced on the MR system are inconsistent with the vibrational frequency of the MR system. The method and apparatus improves image quality of MR images acquired using diffusion weighted imaging techniques with the MR system. As such, modification and/or redesign of the MR system to reduce vibrational frequency interaction is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20070033921
Abstract: An aircraft engine nozzle assembly includes an adjustable flap portion that is movable about a pivot for changing the size of an exhaust exit area. A bracket having a curved slot establishes a range of possible movement of the flap portion. A link includes a guide member portion that is received in the curved slot for guiding the movement of the flap portion. The link is connected to a static engine structure and the bracket is movable with the flap portion. The curved slot establishes a range of possible movement of the flap portion along a direction of the curved slot.

  • Patent number: 7023207
Abstract: A method and system of MR imaging is disclosed that enables PROPELLER imaging to be feasibly carried out independently of slice orientation or anatomy of interest. The invention is directed to the acquisition of blades of MR data that are rotated about a central region of k-space and reconstructing an image of arbitrary slice orientation from the blades of MR data that is substantially absent of radial ripple artifacts caused by phase aliasing from tissue outside the field of view in the slice plane.

  • Publication number: 20050260033
Abstract: A fastener assembly for attaching components of dissimilar materials includes a fastener having a base portion and a protruding portion, and a mechanism for tightening the assembly. The base portion is shaped to be complementary for mating with an attachment feature formed within the non-metal component such that the base portion is retained within the non-metal component. The protruding portion including a base end and a distal end with the distal end including a threaded portion. The fastener assembly allows attachment of components fabricated from dissimilar materials without forming through holes in one of the components. Additionally, the fastener assembly compensates for differences in thermal expansion rates between the non-metal component and the metal component while providing a tight attachment therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20050210861
Abstract: An axial divergent section slot nozzle for an engine is provided. The nozzle has a plurality of spaced apart divergent flaps, at least one device for moving the divergent flaps to change a cross sectional area of the nozzle in a throat region, and a bridge member positioned intermediate adjacent ones of the flaps. The bridge member includes a bridge bracket and a sealing element joined to the bridge bracket. The sealing element has an upper surface. The bridge bracket has a lower surface which diverges from the upper surface of the sealing element. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the bridge bracket has a shape which allows variable slot size depending on nozzle throat jet area.

  • Publication number: 20040135578
Abstract: A phase correction method for MR devices includes collecting non-phase encoded reference data, calculating phase coefficients, and then phase correcting the regular phase-encoded image dataset based on these coefficients. The phase correction method can be used for two dimensional or three dimensional FSE imaging and variants thereof. As the method is conducted after signal acquisition, it is considered a retrospective phase correction.

  • Patent number: 6048026
Abstract: A temporary protective seat cover (10) having a tab (22) attached by means of a pressure sensitive adhesive (24). The seat cover is manufactured from a continuous strip of tubular blow molded plastic, cut and sealed to create upper (b 18) and lower (20) pockets for enclosing a seat back (14) and bottom (16) respectively. The closure tab (22) is a flap cut from the seat cover (10) and has the adhesive strip (24) applied to it. During installation, the closure tab (22) is pulled around the lower portion of the seat back (14) and bonded to the rear portion of the seat cover (10) covering the seat back. This pulls the seat cover (10) taut over the seat bottom (16) in the area of the base of the seat back to prevent slippage and tearing during use.
