  • Publication number: 20170024746
Abstract: This application discloses a system which allow registrations or licenses for multiple jurisdictions to be electronically maintained on a mobile device or central server which are tied to an application running on a mobile device. The application running on the device may have several modes. Administrative mode allows for login and other administrative functions. Inquiry mode allows an operator to determine if he or she has necessary registrations, permits, licenses, or insurance coverage for the current location. Flight mode transmits location and identity to a central server at regular intervals which can be made available to local authorities or others. Verification mode allows an operator to provide proof of registrations, permits, or licenses to authorities. Purchase mode allows an operator to immediately and remotely obtain any needed but missing registration, permit, license or insurance coverage.

  • Publication number: 20170025022
Abstract: Flight safety and air vehicle deconfliction are of paramount concern in the operation of manned aircraft. The introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in quickly growing numbers raises the risks of mid-air collisions, near misses, and diversions from intended flight paths. This application discloses a series of linked process whereby such risks may be significantly reduced and may enable the safe integration of UAVs into the national airspaces of the United States and other nations. The disclosed process allows emergency responders and others to declare an emergency air operations zone (perhaps near the expected landing spot of a medivac helicopter) and notify UAV operators in the vicinity of that zone of the emergency and suggested or mandated actions for the UAV operators to take (i.e., land your airframe as soon as possible, do not approach this spot, be alert for emergency aircraft, etc.). The emergency or priority zone would be limited in location and time.

  • Publication number: 20160192185
Abstract: Electronic devices which can execute code are increasingly ubiquitous. These devices execute code autonomously, in response to user controls at the device, or in response to code or information received when the device communicates with other entities. Oftentimes, such devices remain in a passive mode, open to receipt of electromagnetic, acoustic or other signals but not actively transmitting signals. Several situations including but not limited to broadcast of urgent and time critical information, activation of privacy controls on a device, or activation of affinity or other marketing software make it desirable to have such devices execute code differently and in some circumstances behave differently upon receipt of a beacon signal. This disclosure describes such processes.

  • Publication number: 20150326617
Abstract: Mobile devices are increasingly capable of collecting, storing, and transmitting data which may infringe on the security or privacy of others. The inventions disclosed provide methods by which such conflicts may be reduced by allowing geo-graphical areas to be opted-out of certain types of collection, at all or specific times. These methods may help broaden the acceptance of such devices as Google Glass®, other wearable devices, or other mobile collection-capable devices. The disclosure describes a “collection controller” which maintains positive control over a device's collection capabilities. This controller may be paired with an online opt-out registry or sensor which detects coded opt-out beacons. Certain data collected by the device might be metadata tagged and its further use determined by a “data disposition controller” which ensures restrictions on the collected data are maintained and adhered to.
