  • Patent number: 11174982
Abstract: A deployable prop is provided that is capable of transitioning from an undeployed state to a deployed state in which the prop can be used to support an object against or adjacent to a structural surface. In one embodiment, the deployable prop includes a bistable “carpenter's” tape, a foot member that is engaged to one end of the tape, and a head member that is engaged to the other end of the tape. The tape, foot member, and head member can be placed in an undeployed state that has “roll” shape and in a deployed state in which the tape extends substantially linearly between the foot and head members and can be used to support an object against or adjacent to a structural surface.

  • Patent number: 5862391
Abstract: The power management control system comprises a computer having standard RS485 interface cards and adapters installed in its I/O slots defining multiple industry standard Modbus RTU networks. The computer contains software for monitoring and controlling selected aspects of power usage/consumption, as described in more detail hereinafter. The Modbus RTU protocol is a well known industry standard. Devices with a Modbus RTU interface can be connected directly to the Modbus and other devices which communicate on the Commnet protocol require a Modbus concentrator. The Modbus concentrator provides an interface between the Modbus RTU protocol and the Commnet protocol, whereby these other devices can communicate through the Modbus concentrator over the Modbus. Alternatively, standard Ethernet interface cards and adapters are installed in the computer's I/O slots defining multiple standard Ethernet TCP/IP networks.

  • Patent number: 5762647
Abstract: A method of laundering soiled fabrics comprises contacting the fabrics in an aqueous laundering solution with a granular detergent composition comprising at least about 1% by weight of a surfactant, at least about 1% by weight of a builder, from about 6% to about 9% by weight of a particulate foam control agent, from about 1% to about 5% by weight of bleach activator, from about 0.3% to about 7% by weight of a peroxygen bleaching agent and from about 0.05% to about 0.2% by weight of a cellulase enzyme, wherein the detergent composition produces the low level of foam required for optimal cleaning in washing machines employing a low water wash process.

  • Patent number: 5185088
Abstract: A granular fabric softening composition, which can be added to water to form an aqueous concentrated emulsion, comprising nonionic fabric softener, preferably a fatty alkyl ester of a polyhydric alcohol, and a mono-long-chain alkyl cationic surfactant. In particular, the use of a sorbitan ester with a mono-long-chain alkyl cationic surfactant provides a granular softening agent which can be used to form a highly dispersed, concentrated, aqueous composition which, when added to, e.g., a rinse cycle of a typical washing process, effectively deposits onto fabric from the aqueous bath.

  • Patent number: 4578736
Abstract: An electrical component (10) is encased in a housing (31) and is provided with pairs of terminals (24-26) which permit surface mounting on a printed circuit (36, 37, 38) in a number of different orientations. The terminals are blanked from a metal strip (21) to form T-shaped terminals (24-26, 54-56 and 74-76) which are subsequently bent about the housing to form a number of sets of terminal pairs.

  • Patent number: 4260850
Abstract: A rolled metallized film capacitor is encased between a pair of box halves (13 and 13') each having a pair of dovetailed slots (36 and 37) formed in opposite walls so that when the box halves are assembled about a capacitor blank (10) the slots in the respective box halves are aligned with each other. The box halves are mounted in abutting relation about a pair of parallel wires (11 and 12), and then heat fusible metal (46 and 47) is deposited in the aligned slots to lock the box halves together while bonding the wires (11 and 12) to opposite ends of the capacitor blank (10). When assembled, the boxed capacitor with the laterally extending leads may be readily machine inserted or otherwise assembled in a circuit module, such as a printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 3964455
Abstract: A valve control mechanism for effecting split engine operation of an internal combustion engine, the engine being of the overhead valve type in which each valve is actuated by a rocker arm fulcrumed intermediate its ends on a semi-spherical pivot bearing positioned on a mounting stud fixed to the cylinder head of the engine, one end of the rocker arm engaging the stem of the valve and its other end being engaged by a reciprocating push rod, the valve control mechanism including a piston type hydraulic actuator positioned to move the rocker arm and its pivot bearing axially on a mounting stud against the biasing action of a spring normally holding the rocker arm in an operating position to a position at which the rocker arm is then fulcrumed on the end of the valve stem, normal lash take-up being maintained by the use of a two-piece push rod that includes a spring biased push rod plunger telescopically received in one end of a push rod.

  • Patent number: 3939440
Abstract: A wound resistor-capacitor network having stable frequency response over a wide frequency range (e.g., 60 cycles to 100 kilohertz), is produced by forming a pair of aligned circumferentially extending resistance paths in one of two strips of metallized dielectric film. Forming of the resistance paths is accomplished as the two metallized strips are being wound to form an R-C network roll, by removing metal from the one strip along a first line to produce a gap in the metal layer in parallel spaced relationship to an adjacent edge of the film. Subsequently, removal of metal from the first strip also is initiated along a second line spaced inward from the first line, to produce another gap in the metal layer, thereby forming an elongated first path of desired resistance between the two lines. Metal removal along the first line then is temporarily interrupted to provide a lead termination area and a current steering path at the adjacent end of the network roll, on either side of the strip midpoint.
