  • Patent number: 5884776
Abstract: A dynamic classifier for a coal pulverizer has an improved drive mechanism which is mounted on top of a pulverizer and concentric with the classifier axis of rotation and is directly controllable. The drive mechanism is a variable-speed DC or AC electric motor having a hollow motor shaft. The motor can produce classifier rotor rotational speeds of between 50 and 200 rpm. The classifier rotor is supported from the hollow motor shaft. A coal feed pipe passes through the hollow motor shaft and classifier rotor shaft into the pulverizer.

  • Patent number: 5098026
Abstract: A pulverizer roll wheel assembly comprises a bracket with an opening therein for fixing the outer end of a roller shaft. Bearings mount a roller wheel with pulverizing tire to the inner end of the shaft for rotation of the pulverizer. A lip seal assembly separates an oil space around the inner end of the shaft with an air space around the outer end of the shaft. A pop off relief valve normally positioned near the lip seal is repositioned to the outer face of the shaft for easier access. A cover extends over the relocated valve for extending the air space around the relocated valve.

  • Patent number: 4448135
Abstract: A coal-air separator to be used in combination with a pulverized coal-fired burner having an elbow section and a wye section. The wye section is flow connected to the outlet of the elbow so that the coal-rich portion is transported through the main fuel conduit to the burner. The coal lean portion is transported through the take-off conduit, the outlet being positioned outside the furnace windbox.
