Patent number: 11192763Abstract: A parking lift for vehicles. The parking lift includes a platform on which a vehicle can be parked and lifted by a pair of scissor-lifts configured to raise and lower the platform to enable parking of a second vehicle beneath the platform. A deck of the platform is provided with a gradual slope throughout its length to enable vehicles with low ground clearance to travel onto the platform without contacting an underside of the vehicle with the deck. Each of the scissor-lifts includes short leg and a long leg that is longer than the short leg. Upon actuation between lowered and raised positions, the legs raise an entry end of the platform a greater vertical distance than an opposite terminal end. The platform is thus tilted upward to place a deck thereof in a substantially level or downwardly sloping orientation from the entry end toward the terminal end.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2019Date of Patent: December 7, 2021Assignee: BendPak, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey S. Kritzer, Donald R. Henthorn

A deck of the platform is provided with a gradual slope throughout its length to enable vehicles with low ground clearance to travel onto the platform without contacting an underside of the vehicle with the deck. The scissor-lifts each include a leg with a recessed portion that increases a spacing between a door of a vehicle parked under the platform and the leg and thus a range of motion available to the door. A pad may be disposed on the leg in the recessed portion to protect the door against damage caused by contacting the leg.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2017Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: BendPak, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey S. Patent number: 4136521Abstract: The unit comprises outer and inner coaxial cylinders defining an hydraulic fluid reservoir between the inner walls of the outer cylinder and the outer walls of the inner cylinder. The opposite ends of the cylinders are closed off by a lower closure means and an upper cylinder head. A single piston within the inner cylinder has first and second piston rods extending from opposite sides through the cylinder head and lower closure. The cylinder head includes an hydraulic pump with passages placing the reservoir into communication with the interior of the inner cylinder above the piston together with appropriate check valves so that operation of the hydraulic pump will move the piston down the inner cylinder to exert a pulling force on the first piston rod and a pushing force on the second piston rod.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1977Date of Patent: January 30, 1979Assignee: QMA Inc.Inventors: Gregory E. Mendoza, Donald R. Henthorn, James F. Taylor

Patent number: 4105188Abstract: The accessory device is for use with an hydraulic unit for compressing heavy duty springs. The accessory includes a base plate having feet for engaging lower coils of a spring and a fixed vertical cylinder with its lower end secured to the base plate. A movable cylinder is arranged to telescope over the fixed cylinder and includes laterally extending arms terminating in hooks for engaging over upper coils of the spring. Hydraulic power can be applied to telescope the movable cylinder over the fixed cylinder thereby moving the arms towards the feet and thus compressing a spring positioned therebetween. The relatively large diameters of the cylinders relative to their lengths provides for a very accurate guiding of the downward compressing movement in a rectilinear vertical direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1977Date of Patent: August 8, 1978Assignee: QMA Inc.Inventors: Gregory E. Mendoza, Donald R. Henthorn, James F. Taylor

Patent number: 4088008Abstract: An adapter member is arranged to be connected between a portion of a machine and a tool to enable quick attachment and removal of the tool to the machine. One end of the adapter member connects to the machine portion and the other end terminates in a reduced diameter section defining an annular shoulder. The tool itself is provided at one end with an entrance bore telescopically receivable over the reduced diameter section of the member so that the one end seats against the annular shoulder. The entrance bore to the tool includes a first axially directed camming surface which depresses the pin or projection when the tool is telescoped over the section. A crescent shaped groove within the bore in turn runs transversely to the axis of the bore and receives the pin or projection, the same snapping into this groove when the entrance bore is fully telescopically received over the reduced section.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1977Date of Patent: May 9, 1978Assignee: American Machine & Hydraulics, Inc.Inventors: Leighton H. Whatling, Donald R. Henthorn
