    Abstract: A reduced weight housing construction for a gas generator or inflator comprises stamped aluminum diffuser and base primary pressure components and a hollow steel center-tie member that is provided at the center of the housing with the inflator initiator assembly mounted therein and which with one electron beam weld provides both a structural tie for the inflator and initiator retention.
