  • Patent number: 5633483
Abstract: A circuit breaker is provided having a stationary contact, a movable contact and a blade which has a first end and a second end. The movable contact is secured to the first end of the blade. The blade is rotatable about a pin between a BLOWN OPEN position and a CLOSED position, wherein the movable contact is separated from the stationary contact when the blade is in the BLOWN OPEN position and the movable contact engages the stationary contact when the blade is in the CLOSED position. The blade further has a protrusion portion extending from its second end. The circuit breaker further includes a catcher rotatably coupled to a pivot pin and having a nose portion for engagement with the blade protrusion portion.

  • Patent number: 5500496
Abstract: A handle assembly for a circuit breaker comprises a handle, a handle arm, an inner shield, and an outer shield. The handle includes a base, a shaft, and a first pair of locking members. The shaft extends from an upper surface of the base and the first pair of locking members extend from a lower surface of the base. The handle arm includes a pair of legs and a lateral plate bridging the pair of legs. The pair of legs include a respective second pair of locking members. The second pair of locking members are constructed and arranged to interlock with respective ones of the first pair of locking members so as to lock the handle to the handle arm. The inner and outer shields include respective apertures therein to permit the shields to be disposed over the shaft against the upper surface of the base.

  • Patent number: 5444423
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a circuit breaker comprises a pair of longitudinal legs, a lateral section bridging the pair of longitudinal legs, and a longitudinal section extending from the lateral section in an opposite direction relative to the pair of legs. The lateral section includes a lower bearing surface for releasably engaging a cradle of the circuit breaker. The lower bearing surface includes a coined radius for facilitating engagement and disengagement of the cradle. The longitudinal section includes a protrusion for supporting a latch spring. The latch mechanism is manufactured in a single stamping operation, during which the protrusion is formed by cold extrusion.

  • Patent number: 5416291
Abstract: A circuit breaker is provided having an operating mechanism for rotating a blade about a pin between an OPEN position and a CLOSED position, thereby separating and engaging a stationary contact and a movable contact which is secured to the blade. The operating mechanism has a frame and a first link coupled at one end thereof to the frame and its opposite end coupled to a first end of a second link. The operating mechanism further includes a third link having a first end coupled to a second end of the second link and a second end coupled to the blade for moving the blade between the OPEN position and the CLOSED position. The first and second links are disposed on the opposite side of the pin from the movable contact.

  • Patent number: 4612430
Abstract: An anti-rebound latch having a generally U-shaped housing which defines a central blade path opening between first and second side legs. The housing supports a pivotally mounted generally crescent shaped drive-arm which includes a kicker portion at one end positioned adjacent the top of the blade path opening and a pusher portion at its opposite end. The drive-arm is operatively associated with a blade catcher carried by the first side leg which is reciprocally movable between a first position in which no part of the blade catcher extends into the opening and a second position in which the catcher extends across the opening to the second side leg. The catcher is spring biased to its first position.

  • Patent number: 4466042
Abstract: Trip indicator electromagnets of the permanent magnet type for use in a high amperage molded case circuit breaker under control of the long time delay and the short time delay or instantaneous circuits respectively for indicating the nature of a fault current and which can be reset by operating a viewing window that renders the indicator visible in response to armature movement.
