  • Patent number: 5482994
Abstract: The polymer latices of this invention are compositions formed by adding an unsaturated alkoxy silane and an initiator to a preformed emulsion polymer. The polymer latices have utility as protective surface coatings, adhesives, sealants and as vehicles for paint formulations.

  • Patent number: 4758631
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing allyl-terminated polyisobutylene (PIB) by allylation with allyltrimethylsilane of tertiary chloro-capped PIB by electrophilic substitution. The synthesis begins with the BCl.sub.3, catalyzed mono- or oligo-tertiary chloride "inifer" initiated polymerization of isobutylene, followed in the same reaction vessel by the addition of hexane, allyltrimethylsilane, and TiCl.sub.4.

  • Patent number: 4374182
Abstract: What is disclosed is a method of forming silicon from the degradation of polychlorosilanes, a method of coating a substrate with said silicon and a product of said coating method. The method of forming silicon consists essentially of pyrolyzing said polychlorosilanes in an inert atmosphere or in a vacuum at a temperature of 500.degree. C. to 1450.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 7, 1980
Date of Patent: February 15, 1983
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: John H. Gaul, Donald R. Weyenberg
  • Patent number: 4288356
Abstract: A method of blending an emulsion of an emulsion polymerized copolymer of an organic monomer and an organosilicon monomer and an emulsion of a polydiorganosiloxane to provide a reinforced elastomeric product is disclosed. The physical properties of the cured polydiorganosiloxane elastomeric product are improved by the addition of the copolymer emulsion, as compared to the addition of an organic homopolymer, particularly the tear strength. The blended emulsions and the product obtained by devolatilizing the blended emulsion is also claimed. The cured product is useful as a coating for surfaces, as a textile treatment, and as a paper treatment.
